Obama next US President: Online Poker Dealt Pocket Aces

Posted at 17:43 2008-11-05

Barack Obama has done it folks; he is the next president of the Untied States of America. Winning by the greatest margin since Lyndon Johnson, Obama has re-written the history books.

What does all this mean to the online poker community? Well, according to many experts, Barack Obama was the prime candidate to open up the US to online gaming regulation and millions of potential tax dollars for the US economy.

This author has had the pleasure of witnessing one of the greatest acceptance speeches in presidential history, live, as CNN broadcast the Obama acceptance speech from Grant Park Chicago, he gave hope to not only all of America, and the entire world but the online poker community as well.

With the recent withdrawal from 13 US states and the district of Columbia from the online gaming network Micro Gaming (home to sites such as doylesroom.com and unibet.com), one has to wonder if this election result will help push through such bills as the anti-U.I.G.E.A. (Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act) found here, www.house.gov/apps/list/press/financialsvcs_dem/21frank_004_xml_(2).pdf
by Congressman Barney Frank. Such bills would see a slight reversal of bills such as the U.I.G.E.A.  for online poker players based in the USA. Poker would take the all important steps towards regulation, and the people of the USA would no longer have to worry about breaking the laws that contradict their god forsaken rights that are present in the U.S. Constitution.

With Barrack Obama becoming the next president of the United States of America, online poker in general has been dealt pocket aces. Time will now see if the best hand in Hold’em can hold up and defy the odds to win the ultimate prize: regulation of online poker within the USA.
