With the second half of the year rapidly approaching, Australian eyes turn to the World Series of Poker, before hitting the Asian circuit a bit closer to home. Party Poker are kicking the Asian leg of the poker season this year with online qualifiers already running to the Asian Poker Tour Macau to be held between August 12–23, 2009 at the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino in Macau.
The APT was an astounding success last year, with Yevgeniy Timoshenko overcoming a field including Doyle Brunson, Jack Binion, Johnny Chan, John Juanda, Huck Seed, and Liz Lieu amongst many others, to take down the US$500,000 prize.
One of the world’s best tournament directors, Matt Savage, is back for the 2009 edition of the APT, and things are expected to be bigger and better then ever. Players can expect a full range of side events including sit ‘n go tables, and high-limit cash game action, in addition to some excellent lead up events
A spokesperson for PartyPoker.com said “The Asian Poker Tour Macau is one of the most popular events we run satellites for. Those trying to qualify for this year’s event may have their work cut out as every single PartyPoker.com qualifier who has been to an Asian Poker Tour event has their eyes on a repeat visit! Macau is a completely different poker experience and with The Asian Poker Tour’s legendary award winning parties and soft action in the cash games it is now established as a very popular stop on the international circuit.”
Each Party Poker satellite awards an APT Macau package worth US$7,000 and includes the US$4,300 Main Event buy in, seven nights accommodation and US$1,600 for transfer and spending. The main qualifier is US$700+$50 and is held every Monday at 5:55am AEST, awarding one package for every ten players in the tourney. For those without a spare $700 in their Party Poker account there are US$70 + $5 satellites everyday at 5:55am AEST, except Sundays when the main qualifier is held. On Sundays a turbo qualifier will be held at 3:55am AEST.
Sub-qualifiers start from as low as US$3, so download Party Poker today and join in the party on the Asian Poker Tour!
