When it comes to poker there are very few people who are more experienced than Mike Sexton. Having won more than $5,000,000 from live poker tournaments, helped by him winning a World Series of Poker bracelet, Sexton is the perfect person to give poker tips to beginners.
Each of Sexton's five tips revolve around playing a tight, solid game rather than making fancy plays often seen on televised poker shows. To see what advice Sexton has for new poker players, head over to the PartyPoker blog.
What would your five tips be?
The 2013 World Series of Poker begins on May 29 and you could find yourself in the thick of the action, thanks to PartyPoker and its WSOP promotions.
Until June 16, PartyPoker is running satellite tournaments that eventually award one of two amazing WSOP packages. There is at least one $2,500 WSOP side event package and a WSOP Main Event package to be won every week. Have you won yours yet?
Every Sunday at 14:50 ET until June 16 there will be a $700+$50 WSOP satellite on PartyPoker that will award 1 in 20 players a $14,000 2013 WSOP Package! One package is guaranteed, but we believe there will be more given away as the WSOP draws ever closer and the excitement of the series starts to get ahold of everyone. Each Main Event package consists of:
Also on Sundays, but at the slightly later time of 15:45 ET, a $275+$25 Las Vegas Experience satellite takes place in which one $5,000 package is guaranteed. The $5,000 package consists of:
Don't be disheartened if the main satellites are out of your price range, because PartyPoker is running plenty of qualifier tournaments that feed into them. These qualifiers cost between $1 and $80 to enter, although there are a number of daily freerolls in the lobby, too.
PokerNetwork will be in Las Vegas covering every WSOP event. Here is hoping we get to write about you and update the world on your quest to become a WSOP champion!!
The Contenders promotion is a long-running promotion that will see someone walk away with the lion's share of $12,000 and bragging rights over their peers. Focussing around six freerolls, The Contenders promotion has low qualification criteria so there is no excuse for not getting involved.
The six freerolls have prize pools ranging from $2,000 to an eye-watering $12,000. Gaining access to the freerolls is a simple task, earn the required number of points (as shown in the table below) and a seat to the following month's freeroll tournament will be awarded.
|Weight Class||Points Requirement||Prize pool|
As you can see, by earning just a single PartyPoint during the month, you will gain access to a $2,000 freeroll! Get your grind on and generate 1,000 PartyPoints at the poker tables, and you will be able to step into the ring of a $12,000 freeroll!
PartyPoints are awarded at a rate of two per $1 paid in rake or tournament fees.
Have you got what it takes to be a contender?
FastForward Poker, PartyPoker's offering to the "fast-fold" world, is one of the most exhilarating formats of the modern game. Thanks to players' seating in a pool rather than at one fixed table, you can play hundreds of hands per hour, even if you only play on a single table. Look down at seven-deuce, click "Fast Fold" and you will be instantly whisked from your current table to a seat with a new group of players!
This eliminates the need to wait for premium holdings, making the game more exciting. Being able to play more hands per hour potentially increases your hourly win rate, and thanks to a new promotion focused around FastForward Poker, your hourly rate could be boosted even further.
The FastForward Challenge will see you awarded a poker bonus of between $5 and $100 just for sitting down and playing FastForward poker. Earn just a single point on four days across the week and a $5 poker bonus will find its way to your account. Earn one point every day for seven days, and this bonus increases to $10.
The maximum bonus this promotion yields is $100, awarded to anyone who earns 100 points per day for seven consecutive days. Points are awarded per $1 paid in rake. What's more, FastForward Poker plays so fast that you will be plowing through hands in such a rapid fashion that the points will just rack up.
|Points Per Day||Four days in a week||Seven days in a week|
|One point per day||$5 poker bonus||$10 poker bonus|
|Five points per day||$15 poker bonus||$20 poker bonus|
|25 points per day||$35 poker bonus||$40 poker bonus|
|50 points per day||$45 poker bonus||$50 poker bonus|
|100 points per day||$75 poker bonus||$100 poker bonus|
As an added incentive to grind, PartyPoker will award you with an extra cash bonus if you qualify for a bonus for 12 weeks in a row. If you can withstand the lightning fast pace of FastForward Poker then this is the promotion for you.
PartyPoker is giving PokerNetwork customers a free $50 just for creating a PartyPoker account. There are no hidden catches, you really will be given a free $50 poker bankroll! All you need to do in order to get your hands on some free poker money is follow the simple steps highlighted below.
Once you have received the confirmation email, $20 will be placed in your PartyPoker account. You must earn at least 40 PartyPoints before you will be able to withdraw the free $20. If you do not earn 40 PartyPoints within 60 days, the initial $20, or whatever remains of it, will be forfeited. PartyPoints are earned at a rate of two PartyPoints per $1 in rake or tournament fees, so earning 40 within 60 days is easy.
Once you have earned 40 PartyPoints, an additional $30 will be deposited into your account, bringing the total free cash to $50. You must then generate 160 points before you can cash out any of the $30 and must do so within 120 days, otherwise the $30, or the remainder of it, will be forfeited.
