PokerNetwork Players of the Month - March

Posted at 11:34 2009-04-02
The month of March brought with it another fantastic live tournament series for local players with the Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series dominating the poker headlines. True deep-stacked tournament poker for players of all budgets in a world class poker venue was well supported as huge fields took to the felt of the Crown Poker Room.
There were some tremendous performances with several previous Young Gun of the Month award winners breaking through for their first victory on the live felt.
Meanwhile there were some incredible online performances that were simply mind-blowing. It seems that a Monday morning doesn’t go by without an Aussie going deep in an online major.
It proved extremely difficult to find only two award winners so we congratulate the following players for their excellence on the local and international poker stage.
Player of The Month – Jay “Seabeast” Kinkade
Jay Kinkade
Previous Young Gun of the Month award winner, Jay “Seabeast” Kinkade now has a matching pair of awards with the PokerNetwork Player of the Month award for March. With so many great performances this month, Kinkade’s efforts may have slipped under the radar of many, but the sheer volume of numbers speak for themselves.
Kinkade’s month was always going to be a big one as he got off to the perfect start on March 1st. While on holiday in Taiwan, Kinkade recorded his biggest online win by taking down the Full Tilt Poker 750k Guaranteed for a whopping US$147,911. He followed that up with another seven wins, over 60 cashes for a month that netted in excess of US$275,000. A staggering statistic from a man who had recently “retired” from tournament poker…retired no more! The beast is back!
Young Gun of The Month – Daniel Botta
Daniel Botta
Daniel Botta is a player to watch in the future after he took out the title in the Main Event of the recent Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series at Crown Casino. Amongst a huge field of 898 entrants and near half a million dollar prize pool, Botta rose to prominence late on Day 2 was the chip leader entering the final table. He was able to get the better of seasoned player Sam Higgs heads-up to capture the trophy and $100,000 in prize money. A sensational performance, that’s worthy of the PokerNetwork Young Gun of the Month award for March.
Congratulations to Jay and Daniel!
