The month of May was highlighted by the major local event on the tournament calendar – the 2009 Melbourne Poker Championships. With many tremendous results during the two weeks of play, the series was highlighted by the ANZPT Melbourne Feature Event and the Main Event which attracted a whopping 725 entrants.

Player of The Month – Chris Levick
Chris Levick has been a consistent performer on the local tournament circuit with a deep run in the ANZPT Sydney event along with countless satellite victories online. However Chris cemented his place in Australian poker history with his victory in the ANZPT Melbourne Feature Event at the 2009 Melbourne Poker Championships.
Chris overcame a highly talented field of 218 players to capture the trophy and $158,050 in prize money. Congratulations Chris on a tremendous result and the PokerNetwork Player of the Month award for May.
Young Gun of The Month – Xin (David) Zhao
The PokerNetwork Young Gun of the Month award for May goes to Xin (David) Zhao. This young gun has impressed many with his exceptional play and consistent results over the past few months. David landed a final table result at the ANZPT Sydney before following up with another cash in the ANZPT Melbourne. Not satisfied, he was amongst the 725 entrants for the 2009 Melbourne Championships Main Event a few days later to end up in 5th place and netting another $38,000 in prize money.
David is a highly talented young player on the rise and one to watch for in the future!
