PokerNetwork is pleased to recognize the achievements of another two of our country’s finest players with the PokerNetwork Player of the Month awards for September!
The month of September was a little quiet on the local live poker front, with the major event on the calendar being the inaugural Sydney Poker Championships before the PokerNews Cup was underway in the final days of the month. Our attention turned to the online poker world where the PokerStars World Championships of Online Poker (WCOOP) saw some tremendous performances. The Sunday majors also produced some deep runs while the Full Tilt Poker MiniFTOPS brought some fascinating sweats in the PokerNetwork forums.
We congratulate all of those players who achieved great results throughout September and especially the following players who receive the PokerNetwork Players of the Month awards for September.
Player of The Month – Jarred Graham
Jarred “FlopNutsOnYou” Graham has confirmed his place as the brightest young star in the country, both in the online world and on the live poker scene with a hugely impressive victory in the Main Event of the 2009 Sydney Poker Championships.
Jarred overcame a field of 324 players with fearless aggression to grab the win and the first place prize of AU$121,500.
While Jarred is still only a tender 20 years of age, he is presently ranked in the top ten online players in the country and has a live poker resume to rival the best in the game. A previous PokerNetwork Young Gun of the Month, his win in Sydney was his third trophy in less than 12 months and has boosted his career earnings to close to half a million dollars. Not bad for a guy who is not even of legal age to visit the casinos in Las Vegas and the World Series of Poker!
Congratulations Jarred on being a worthy PokerNetwork Player of the Month award, and watch out world, this young gun will be flopping the nuts on you real soon!
Young Gun of The Month – Joel Dodds
Joel “StrongPlay” Dodds has had a remarkable consistent 2009 with several impressive performances including a win in the Pot Limit Omaha with Rebuys event at the Melbourne Championships. However Dodds didn’t slow down there.
Following two final tables in preliminary events at the APPT Macau festival, Dodds returned to the PokerStars.net ANZPT with a third place finish worth $62,250 at the ANZPT Queensland event to end the season 3rd in the ANZPT Player of the Year rankings.
While proving himself on the live felt, Dodds honed his talents on the virtual felt and his incredible run in the Full Tilt MiniFTOPS Main Event in September was one of the most impressive runs we’ve seen for some time. With over 14,000 entrants hitting the felt, Joel put in a marathon effort to outlast all but two others, for another 3rd place finish worth an incredible US$52,301 for just a $55 investment. A wonderful achievement that earned Joel the PokerNetwork Young Gun of the Month award for September.
