"PokerNews Australia Asia & Pacific Magazine - January Issue Out NOW!"
January 09, 2010

Happy 2010!  What a cracking start to the year with the Aussies holding on to the second cricket test after all looked hopeless. And now the Aussie Millions is right around the corner. After a tough Aussie Summer of BBQs, beers and endless sun, it’s time to hit the casino once again and do what we do best...hit the cards. Hopefully you have all had a nice rest away from the felt for the past couple of weeks and are ready to run like you’ve never run before! Let’s keep the Aussie Millions title on home soil!

There will be no shortage of celebrity faces hitting the Crown Poker Room this January, with many of the biggest names in poker set to descend on the land down under for the big one. The January edition of PokerNews Australia, Asia and Pacific is out now and features a comprehensive guide to the Aussie Millions, including the history, past winners, Gus Hansen feature, Stewart Scott interview and our pick of international and local hopes who are sure to have their eyes on the coveted trophy.

We’ve been saying it a lot lately, but January is a great time to be in Australia and especially Melbourne. There are festivals and music popping up from every nook, cranny and laneway that paves our great city. There’s a huge rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne, but the Aussie Millions plays host to the largest poker tournament in the Southern Hemisphere - and it is the best way to kick off the new year. Raphael Nadal and Roger Federer will be serving more aces on Melbourne Park than we are personally likely to find in our own pocket!

We welcome Amanda De Casare to our January cover, our first female cover girl and our brightest rising star. Inside, Amanda tells us about The Poker Star journey and what lays ahead for the future. We also talk to Aaron Benton about his huge victory at the APPT Grand Final in Sydney in December. It’s also a good time to reflect on 2009 and the highlights of the year that was. Big congratulations to Jarred Graham for his surge at the APPT Grand Final, winning back-to-back High Rollers titles and falling just short of the Main Event final table. His efforts saw him pip Steve Topakas and Stewart Scott at the 2009 PokerNetwork Player of the Year post. As the 2010 race begins, and with more ANZPT, APPT, APT and local events scheduled than ever before...you wouldn’t want to miss the Aussie Millions starting line! PokerNetwork and PokerNews Australia, Asia and Pacific will be there to cover all the big stories.

All the best for 2010 and may your cards hold true.
