PokerNews Australia Magazine - November Issue Out Now!
Posted at 09:47 2009-11-20
The November edition of PokerNews magazine (Australia, Asia and Pacific) has hit the shelves and can now be found at major casinos, selected news agencies and also direct to your door by subscription. In this edition we take a look at the November Nine before they took their final seats at the WSOP Main Event final table last week. Since the November Nine was set, two of its members found their preparation for the big one lead them to the World Series of Poker Europe final table. We take a look at what happened at the WSOPE and whether the father/son Shulman double could make poker history. We now know that the history was to be written in another way, when Joe Cada became the youngest World Champion of all time.
Someone who will be forever written into poker history is Mike Sexton. Mike graces our cover with the news of his well deserved induction into the exclusive Poker Hall of Fame. One of our own great ambassadors of the game, Billy “The Croc” Argyros previews some potential candidates worthy of selection into the Australian Poker Hall of Fame in 2010.
The Asia Pacific Poker Tour has taken us to Macau, Auckland and Cebu, but the biggest tournament will take place this December at the brand new Star City poker room in Sydney. We preview the big finale and the great schedule of events on offer so you can start your plan of attack now.
Also inside the latest edition of PokerNews (Australia, Asia and Pacific) you will find the best ways to secure your Aussie Millions seat, for a fraction of the $10,000 buy-in. Michael Chrisanthopolous shares his story of how he turned $125 into $700,000 in the 2008 Aussie Millions. Stewart Scott joins the Party and looks forward to defending his 2009 Aussie Millions crown. We also preview one of the most popular events on the local calendar, as the Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series 3 returns to Crown - a perfect warm up to the Aussie Millions in January.
In the spotlight this month we profile Yevgeniy Timoshenko and we also catch up with Clonie Gowan, Jarred Graham and PokerNews Cup Australia champ and PokerNetwork Player of the Month for October, Con Tsapkounis. Our 15 minutes is spent with leading jockey Shane Dye who is building an impressive online record as he eyes a future in poker.
We also take a look at the two Australian poker shows hitting our television screens, where stars are born and heroes are made. We welcome Joe Hachem as a regular columnist and he talks to us about the making of The Poker Star. We also take our own sneak peak behind the scenes of The Australian Poker Hero.
Alongside our team of great contributors we also welcome 2007 APPT Sydney Champion Grant Levy and Peak Performance Coach Jamie Glazier to our pages. Grant shares lots of tips and stories from his experience on the local tournament scene blended with his expertise as a physical education teacher. While Jamie takes a look at poker from the other side of the felt, and the mental conditioning required to reach peak performance.
