Posted at 22:54 2009-09-26
Poker players from all around the world are heading to Melbourne’s world-class Crown Poker Room for another major poker series, as the third PokerNews Cup Australia kicks off tomorrow, running right through until October 5th.
“Crown is excited to be partnering again with PokerNews, the world’s leading poker news website and are confident that the 2009 PokerNews Cup will be popular amongst local and international players alike. The PokerNews Cup is a welcome addition to Crown’s existing stable of world-class poker events and reinforces our position as the home of poker in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Crown’s Director of Poker Operations, Jonno Pittock.
“PokerNews and Crown are pleased to announce the return of the most successful PokerNews event ever,” comments PokerNews Chief Consultant Damon Rasheed. “This year’s event will once again draw the biggest and brightest names to the Crown’s lavishly appointed poker arena!”
The PokerNews Cup schedule offers a tremendous range of events to cater to players of all budgets. With nine events spanning the week-long series, the buy-ins range from $115 for the PokerPro event through to the $2,200 Main Event where players will compete for an estimated first place prize of $250,000.
Some of the highlights of the schedule will be the much-hyped PokerNetwork Live versus Online Challenge, where the best young guns around the country will take on the experienced Crown regulars. The $550 Tony G Shootout Bounty Event should also attract a big field with the likes of 2005 World Champion Joe Hachem, Aussie Millions champ Lee Nelson, WSOP bracelet holder Gary Benson and Tony G himself expected to be in attendance.
If you can’t make it to the Crown Casino this week, don’t worry as the PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on the floor to bring you live updates of all the action on www.pokernews.com. Of course, for reports on the preliminary events and the progress of the local contingent then look no further than Australia’s largest poker portal, PokerNetwork.com.
