"Join the Pokerstars PCA for a serve of "Fish and Chips""
November 26, 2010

Poker tournaments have always been about wading through a sea of fish to reach glory... well the organisers of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure have taken that to a new level. For those rueing the fact that they couldn’t find the time to cast the line for a spot of fishing while at the PCA in the Bahamas, fear not as PokerStars has you covered with their brand new Fish and Chips (NZ Translation: Fush and Chups) Showdown.

This one-of-a-kind event will see players duking it out with the real fish in the sea on January 6, before taking to the poker tables on January 7 to meet the poker variety of fish. Day one of the tournament will involve a four-hour fishing contest that will count for one-third of the points on the overall leaderboard. The second day of the tournament will see participants engaged in a poker tournament that will account for the other two-thirds of the leaderboard points. The tournament is $2,300 to enter with $400 per participant going to the fishing contest prizepool, another $900 per head going into the poker tournament prizepool and the final $1,000 per head being paid out to players on the overall leaderboard. This means that there will be interest for players even if they are weaker at one of the two events.

All participants in the tournament will also get an invite to an exclusive private drinks reception with members of Team PokerStars Pro in attendance. There will be special prizes for the winner of each tournament and the overall leaderboard winner. Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker has already put his hand up to be involved in the tournament. According to the American Pro, “I jumped at the chance to play such an unusual and unique event. Most poker tournaments take place indoors, which is fine, but I can’t imagine a better way to enjoy paradise than to go fishing on the Caribbean Sea and follow that with poker action at the tables”.

In PokerStars style there will be online qualifiers to the event paying out $3,425 packages that include three nights stay at the Royal Towers hotel. The Fish and Chips Tournament is sure to be a winning edition to a schedule that already boasts 47 championship events across a wide array of games in just 12 days of action. In addition to the huge amount of tournament action there will be sit n gos, cash games and various PokerStars promotions just to make your stay in the Caribbean just that much better. The 2011 PCA is not to be missed!
