Today marks the start of the Macau Poker Cup: Championship 2012 (MPCC), an event sponsored by PokerStars Macau. Running between Sept. 07 through to Sept. 16 the MPCC is the grand finale of the Macau Poker Cup series and it promises to live up to all of the hype.
There will be 12 official events in total with buy-ins ranging from just HKD$1,000 and climbing all the way up to HKD$50,000. Along with the HKD$50,000 High Rollers event the crowning jewel of this fantastic festival is the HKD$20,000 Man Event that carries a massive HKD$4,500,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Last year's Main Event attracted a 308-strong crowd who were all outlasted by Malaysia's Raiden Kan who walked away from the Lisboa Hotel & Casino, Macau with the HKD$1,250,000 first place prize, the equivalent of AUD$156,000.
Poker is booming in Macau and PokerNetwork fully expects this year's Main Event to attract an even larger crowd. Time will tell if Kan returns to the felt in an attempt to defend his title but we have confirmation that a a myriad of Team PokerStars Pros will be participating including Celina Lin and Bryan Huang.
Along with the events listed above, there will also be a plethora of satellite tournaments to the various high buy-in events but we suggest you check with the casino before commencing your travel to ensure the satellites are still going to be running.
