After Denmark’s Peter Eastgate emerged victorious at the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event, he said that the tournament is “the one to play if you are going to take a shot at fame and fortune.” There’s no denying it – names like Greg “The Fossilman” Raymer, Chris Moneymaker and Joe Hachem have all become overnight superstars and household names after years of playing poker out of the spotlight.
These players all share one other thing in common – they’re Team PokerStars Pro members. Now PokerStars are looking for their next superstar to join their ranks at the Rio Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas by putting up one of the largest online WSOP satellites to date.
On Sunday, June 14 at 16:30 ET (7:30am AEST), the Sunday Million will be replaced by the WSOP Mega Main Event Qualifier, which will see a guaranteed 200 WSOP Main Event packages worth $12,000! This includes buy-in, hotel accommodation and $1,000 cash for expenses.
To enter this special event, players can either buy in directly at PokerStars for $370, or take part in satellites that are underway for as little as $2.20 or 460 Frequent Player Points (FPP’s). In addition, all entrants into the WSOP Mega Main Event Qualifier will receive double VIP Player Points (VPP’s).
It doesn’t stop there – for those players who are lucky to secure their seat through PokerStars and take part in the 2009 WSOP Main Event, by signing a player contract and wearing the PokerStars logo, they will be elevated instantly to Supernova VIP status with 100,000 VPPs credited to their account.
PokerStars will also give their WSOP Main Event players the chance to play in exclusive live freeroll sit-and-go satellites in Las Vegas for cash prizes. The winners of those games will then be given a ticket to the online final to play off for a share of $1 million!
