Posted at 23:13 2010-01-08

PokerStars.net has soared further ahead in the live tournament tour race after recently announcing the establishment of the PokerStars.net North American Poker Tour (NAPT), with the first event currently underway.

Like the PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) and the PokerStars.net European Poker Tour (EPT), the NAPT has included the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) as part of its schedule.

The Venetian Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada will be making their NAPT event the Main Event of the Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza in February before making the trek to the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut in April. More venues across the region will be announced shortly.

“I’m really looking forward to the launch of the NAPT,” said Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu. “PokerStars.net has done an excellent job sponsoring meaningful tournaments around the world ... with the addition of the NAPT I’ll have a chance to play some tournaments on home soil and I’m very excited about that.”

The NAPT is expected to generate regular million-dollar prize pools and bring thousands of players in from North America and around the world, along with many more Team PokerStars Pros such as Vanessa Rousso, Greg Raymer and Joe Cada.

The inaugural season will also be televised, with Joanna Krupa named as the host, adding to her appearances on Dancing with the Stars and the PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge.

NAPT package freeroll tournaments are currently underway at PokerStars.net; for further information on the new tour, log onto www.napt.com.
