PokerStars.net ANZPT Season 2 Schedule Announced

It's the news that everyone's been waiting for – the PokerStars.net Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) is back again and it's bigger and better than ever in 2010!

1,309 players took their seats this year during Season 1 of the ANZPT. Spanning six casinos in five destinations across the Tasman and generating over AUD $2.9 million in prize money, Season 2 is set to surpass those records with six venues already announced with more soon to follow.

Once again, the tour kicks off at the traditional home of poker in Australia, the SKYCITY Adelaide Casino with the Main Event taking place from February 9 to 14.

“We are looking forward to the return of the ANZPT in Adelaide after the wonderful success of the first year and we are excited to see the event grow and flourish in Adelaide,” said SKYCITY Adelaide Poker Manager David Galpin.

Queensland is back on board, but this time around the Conrad Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast will be flying solo. Sydney, Melbourne and Queenstown also return for Season 2, however the big news comes from the biggest state – Western Australia is getting set to host their first ANZPT event in March at the Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth.

Burswood Entertainment Complex General Manager of Table Games Jason Barry is thrilled, “We feel this is just what our players have been waiting for and we expect big numbers will take part in the first PokerStars.net ANZPT Perth tournament.”

The PokerStars.net ANZPT Player of the Year title will also be back up for grabs, awarding the top three players on the Overall Points Leaderboard up to AUD $100,000 in sponsorship packages, including seats into the Aussie Millions and the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT).
