The eagerly anticipated PokerStars.net Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) is currently at the Star City Casino, Sydney for what should be a spectacular Main Event. The $2,000+$200 showpiece kicks off on Thursday 22 March and runs through until a champion is crowned at some point on Sunday 25 March.

In this very tournament in 2011 a bumper field of 393 players participated, creating a prize pool of $786,000 that was eventually shared out amongst the top 45 finishers. A min-cash was worth $3,537 and the prize money steadily increased right up to the final table where everyone locked up $15,720. The eventual winner was the American Michael Kanaan who defeated Luis Arrilucea heads-up to get his hands on the coveted ANZPT trophy and a wallet-bursting $195,714 in prize money.

Day 1a of the 2012 ANZPT Sydney Main Event begins at 18:15 on Mar.22 with the second flight taking place the following day at an earlier time of 12:30. Day 2 starts at 12:30 prompt on Mar.24 whilst those who make it to the final table get a couple mof extra hours in bed because Mar.25's finale does not get underway until 14:00.
