Royal Flush puts "SEABEAST" in front on Day 1a in Sydney

Season 3 of the PokerStars.net ANZPT headed to the harbor city today as Sydney played host to the third stop on the tour. 152 players took to the felt with the likes of Jarred Graham, Andrew Jeffreys, Kristian Lunardi, Scott Kerr, Toothpick Tony, Liam Moffett, Jackie Glazier, Jay Kinkade, Ian Parnell, Leo Boxell, Sam Rotar, Connie Lai, Dale Marsland, Trung Tran, Andrew Watson, Andrew Hinrichsen, Tom Grigg, Julian Cohen John Caridad, Richard Lancaster and Brotha D all hitting the felt for Day 1a action.

Hinrichsen was right in the thick of things as it looked like he would runaway with the chip lead, but he fell back late in the day. Isaac Lau was also prominent, after he made quad tens twice, and raked several pots with some creatively played “trash”. In the end, Lau got off the rollercoaster ride with a top five chip count.

However the man to catch is the beast himself, Jay “SEABEAST” Kinkade. One of the most feared players in the game, Kinkade got his day going when he rivered a Royal Flush, and from there, he never looked back. Kinkade bagged up 148,150 for a clear chip lead as 65 players navigated their way safely through to Day 2.

Top 10 Chip Counts

Jay Kinkade - 148150
Mike Ivin - 113700

Will Dunn - 97200

We should also congratulate PokerNetworker Jonathan "xMONSTERxDONGx" Karamalikis who secured victory in the ANZPT Sydney High Rollers Event last night. Karamalikis adds another title and another $75,000 to his back pocket as he was able to successfully defend the title that he won in this event 12 months earlier.

Tomorrow will see a new batch of players enter the Star City Poker Room with live updates courtesy of the PokerStars Blog from 12:30pm.
