Sach Claims Pot Limit Omaha Title!

Day 3 of the 2009 Melbourne Poker Championships was Omaha day with 50 players fronting up at 10am for the second event of the morning series. The prize pool reached $4,500 with the top six finishing in the black. Rainer Quel snuck into 6th place but in the end it was Brett Watson who overcame Ulfgeir Hansen heads-up to take it down.

The evening session saw 150 entrants for Event #4: $175 Pot Limit Omaha with the championship title up for grabs. While PLO is an action game, again the end result wasn’t decided until the early hours of the morning when Jim Sachinidis got the better of Sam Jessop to capture the trophy and $6,070 in prize money.

The fourth championship day brings the third event of the morning series with the $120 Mixed Stud event sure to confuse many at 10am, while the evening session will bring plenty of fun and a sizeable field for Championships Event #5: $230 No Limit Holdem Bounty Event. The action commences at 7:10pm so get down to the Crown Poker Room to be a part of the action.
Also it’s not too late to qualify for the Melbourne Championships Main Event with $50 No Limit Hold’em satellites, with $25 rebuys, running every day at 2pm at the Crown Poker Room, with last minute online satellites still running at Full Tilt Poker and 888 Poker.
Also don’t forget about the PokerNetwork Melb Champs Mini-League – it’s not too late to qualify for the final and win a package worth around $2,000!
