Star City $500,000 Poker Face-off

Posted at 07:00 2006-10-11 Star City has announced the $500,000 Poker Face-off, which will take place on Sunday December 17. With a buyin of $3246+$254 and a prizepool of $500,000, this tournament is set to be one of the biggest on the Australian poker calendar. In the lead up to the Main Event on December 17, Star City will be running satellites on Sundays and Mondays, plus selected Wednesdays, starting on Wednesday October 18. The Monday satellites will start at 12:00pm, and have a buyin of $130+$20. The field is capped at 154 players (same for all events) and if capacity is reached, the winner will receive $4500 cash plus entry into the Main Event. The Wednesday satellites will commence at 6:00pm, with a buyin of $270+$30, and the prizepool will be $42,000 if the event is sold out. First place (in event of maximum prizepool) will take home $11,000 cash plus a Main Event entry. The Sunday satellites kick off at 12:00pm, cost is $500+$60, and the prizepool will be $77,000 if locked out ($20,000 cash plus a Main Event entry for the winner). Satellites will run until December 13, if each satellite sells out then there will be just under $1 million in prizemoney up for grabs during the next eight weeks before the Main Event even starts. If you want to buy into the satellites or the Main Event, you must do so in person at Star City at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the tournament. Players are advised to get in early.
