The Friday Flutter: Rain, Rain Go Away

Posted at 15:41 2010-10-29

Working for a living sucks. Thankfully the weekend is upon us and as we do at this time of the week it’s time to look at the best bets coming up in the Friday Flutter.

Horse Racing (Friday and Saturday)

Sean Callander has stopped furiously hitting refresh on the weather website long enough to let us know what he likes this weekend. He has had to search further afield for some value due to the threat of a weekend marred by heavy track racing.

Hopefully you’ll be laughing all the way to the bank with his best selection. Callander loves The Comedian (Moonee Valley race 6, #6) on Friday Night at 9:15pm AEDT to salute with Damien Oliver on board. Right now the horse is going in as a relatively short priced favourite, but looks the goods here, currently in hot form after a spell.

With the clouds gathering overhead ominously for Saturday he wants to get some more serious action down on the Friday Night Gallops in Melbourne. We managed to steal away his race page for a moment and found two other selections circled:

Moonee Valley (Friday Night):
Race 3 #1 Doosra Diamond (win)
Race 4 #10 King Kalakaua (E/W)

While the action on Saturday at the Victoria Derby will be a bit more restrained, he may be taking a look at #2 Rekindled Interest, who is Callander’s best rated horse in the field, and a little roughie on #6 Yulalona.

Before you dash over to Betfair to get your cash down, Callander also likes the look of the following horses in Melbourne on Saturday:

Race 1 #1 Skilled (best of the day)
Race 3 #8 Zutara (E/W)
Race 4 #3 Buffering (win)
Race 8 #12 Dubleanny (E/W)

And a little bonus selection from Rosehill in Sydney on Saturday as well:

Race 2 #1 Kontiki Park

Soccer (Friday)

Plenty of Friday night action to be had (and we don’t just mean at the local over 30s club, you know 50 is the new 30 right?). Now that you’ve hopefully had time to shake that disturbing thought from your head, get over to William Hill and book in some Adelaide United (Draw No Bet) at $2.15 against the Melbourne Victory. The game is on Fox Sports so you may be able to catch parts of it while your practicing your best pick up lines up in the club.

American Football (Monday)

If Sunday morning hangover trolling of PokerNetwork is more your style, than at least you can bet a few of the American Football selections. Brendan Duffy likes the Jacksonville Jaguars straight up to knock off the Dallas Cowboys. Bwin is offering up $3.40 for the Jacksonville win and that is one of the best prices on the board at the moment. Sean Callander prefers the might of the Pittsburgh Steelers to take down the New Orleans Saints. Again Bwin will have you covered with $1.91 for a Steelers win.

That’s all from us for this week. Best of luck whatever you decide to punt on and don’t forget to tune into the boys on the PokerNetwork Sports Betting Show for more selections.
