The Historical ANZPT Auckland Main Event Begins Today

The PokerStars Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) is in Auckland, New Zealand for the first time in its history, which makes todays Main Event extra special.

The NZD$2,200 buy-in ANZPT Auckland Main Event is the first PokerStars run live event to take place in Auckland since Danny “Brother D” Leaoasavaii outlasted a star-studded field of 218 in the APPT Auckland Main Event, a result that netted him a cool NZD$170,000. On that occasion, Leaoasavaii had to beat the online superstar that is Tom “tollgate” Grigg heads-up to win the tournament and then went on to take down the ANZPT Darwin event the following month.

Day 1A kicks off on Nov. 21 at 18:30, with Day 1B starting at the exact same time on Nov. 22. Those players wishing to play on Day 1C need to be aware that the official start time for this flight is at a much earlier 12:30. Once the starting flights are completed, it will take a further two days to whittle down the surviving players to the point where only the ANZPT Auckland champion remains.

The ANZPT Auckland runs alongside the SKYCITY Festival of Poker, which means there are plenty of side events for players to get their teeth into. There have already been a number of events completed including the $550 No Limit Hold’em Turbo and the $550 Pot Limit Omaha event. As you can see from the table below, there are still a number of official side events in the pipeline should players bust out of the Main Event or find the Main Event buy-in is outside of their bankroll constraints.
