On Friday, Sept. 5, Aria Resort & Casino Las Vegas hosted its second $100,000 Super High Roller tournament. The event attracted 22 entries and generated a prize pool of $2,178,000. The top three spots would pay out, and claiming the top prize of $1,306,800 was Tom Marchese.

Cary Katz finished in second place for $653,400, and Brian Rast scored third for $217,800.

Several big names came out to Aria for the big buy-in action. Of those who got into the mix were Doug Polk, David "Doc" Sands, Igor Kurganov, Jake Schindler, Philipp Gruissem, Andrew Robl, and Joseph Cheong.

Marchese would eventually dispense of his opponent and claim the title. On the final hand, Katz's {K-}{J-} fell to Marchese's {A-}{Q-} and it was all over. For Katz, the $653,400 score marked the second largest of his poker career, coming just months after he placed eighth in the World Series of Poker $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop for $1,306,667.

For Marchese, the $1,306,800 score was impressive, but only the second best in 2014 for the young pro. In June, Marchese took third in the Bellagio $100,000 Super High Roller for $1,465,451. Marchese now has over $7,500,000 in live tournament earnings.
