Day 1b of the PokerStars.net ANZPT is complete with 133 players coming to the felt in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast, to take the total field over the two venues and all the day 1 flights to 249 runners making a prizepool of $622,500.
Some of the big names playing today included Lee Nelson, Bruno Portaro, Grant Levy, John Dalessandri, Chris Levick, Dennis Huntly, Andrew “Adgee” Jeffreys, Michael “TheBigSiCkO” Guzzardi, Aleks Lackovic, Ray Sukkar, Celina Lin, and Andrew Scott.
Unfortunately Lackovic, Jeffreys, Sukkar, Scott and Huntly would join Ali Khalil, Martin Cardno and Steve Topakas in hitting the rail before the end of the day.
At the top end of the board Tom Zhou rampaged out in front early in the day in Brisbane and didn’t look bad amassing 100,000 chips before halfway through the day and finishing up with 114,625. Joining him at the top of the counts was Tim English who went deep in last year’s APPT Sydney event, with 95,600.
A ton of PokerNetworker’s played today including Tim “Luckyshades” Horan, Joel “Strong Play” Dodds, Heath “TassieDevil” Chick, Grant “Grunter” Levy, Scott “Punty” Smith, Ali “Kh4lil” Khalil, and John “JCSydney” Caridad among many others. Luckyshades was among the front runners on the Gold Coast, and Strong Play was right up there in Brisbane.
With 249 runners the tournament will pay 27 places. First place will win $168,075, and a min-cash will scoop $4,668.
Day 2 will take place simultaneously at both the Gold Coast and Brisbane with play getting underway from 12:15pm tomorrow. PokerNetwork will be on the floor at both casinos to bring you all the action. To keep up with the action check out the live reporting section.
