Van Marcus and Jonathan Karamalikis Awarded Full Tilt Red Pro Status

After weeks of speculation, it can now be revealed that Jonathan Karamalikis and Van Marcus have been awarded Red Pro status on Full Tilt Poker.
With Full Tilt Poker always looking to expand their team, there was no doubt that at some point during 2010 they were going to add to their Australian lineup of Billy ‘The Croc’ Argyros, Mark Vos and Paul Khoury. It was just a matter of who?
There were plenty of worthy candidates that fit the requirements and have the desire to become a Full Tilt Poker Red Pro, but when the dust settled just two of Australia’s best players were awarded the prestigious honour of representing the Full Tilt Poker brand.
Jonathan ‘xMONSTERxDONGx’ Karamalikis learnt his trade on the virtual felt and, in just a few short years, has become one of Australia’s most talented young players. His success, both live and online, has been astonishing with his recent victory in the 2010 Aussie Millions $1,500 Bounty Event taking his live career earnings to over $340,000. It was impossible for Full Tilt Poker to look past the 21-year old following his impressive run in the Aussie Millions $100k Challenge where he was able to match it with the best in the world in the biggest tournament on the planet!
26-year old Van ‘Sirens’ Marcus has established himself as one of Australia’s finest players with many years of impressive cash and tournament results. Van recently pushed over the $1 million in live earnings to now sit eighth on Australia’s All Time Money List with a resume that includes an APPT Manila title, six cashes and three final tables at the WSOP, and eight Aussie Millions cashes. However Van’s bread-and-butter is online cash games, and in particular Pot Limit Omaha and PLO Eight-or-Better where he has played at some of the highest stakes against some of the toughest players in the world such as Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan and Phil Galfond.
It was tough to look past Van when Full Tilt Poker were considering an Australian for their developing team. Not only does he have success in all forms of the game but he has always been ultra-consistent. His Full Tilt Red Pro status is validation of this.
For both Van and Jonathan there is of course a monetary reward for achieving Red Pro status, but for both these down-to-earth kids from the suburbs of Melbourne and Adelaide it was confirmation of their place as Australia’s elite players. If you are keeping an eye out for them on the tables, then Jonathan will be keeping his favoured ‘xMONSTERxDONGx’ moniker, while Van has made the switch from his well-known ‘Sirens’ moniker to use his full name highlighted in red.
With both Van and Jonathan will be required to fulfil Red Pro obligations such as churning up plenty of hours online, wearing the Full Tilt Poker patch proudly at live events, and occasionally participating in ProChat sessions.
If you want to ask either Van or Jonathan a question, or possibly battle them on the felt, then download Full Tilt Poker and you could be on your way to one day being a Red Pro!
