Wang’s the man to Catch in the Macau Poker Cup After Day 1B

The second of three starting flights in the Macau Poker Cup has ended and it was another day of superb poker action from the PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams. When the dust had settled on the tournament floor, Zhenwu Wang was announced as the overall chip leader.
Wang’s name may be familiar to the poker aficionados among you, and so it should be. Wang was the man who finished second to Yoshitaka Okawa in this very event in January 2013. On that occasion, Wang won HK$784,000 ($101,138) for outlasting all but one of the 532 entrants, a figure that is sure to be smashed once Day 1C ends later tonight.
The largest-ever Red Dragon tournament took place in February 2012 when 635 players bought in. This latest edition of what is a spectacular tournament has already seen 489 player enter, meaning only 139 more entrants are needed in order to break that record. Surely that figure is going to be crushed.
Joining Wang at the right end of the chip counts are the likes of Ka Ho Chiu (150,600), Teck Soon Leu (138,600), Kenneth Wong (137,300), and Kelvin Lau (136,100). Slightly further down the standings is the sole surviving Team PokerStars Pro Vivian Im on 54,200.
Day 1C commences at 19:00 local time and should see plenty of big names take their seats and battle it out at the brand new felt. Team PokerStars will be represented by Bryan Huang who will be delighted if he can improve on his 2010 result in this event where he finished second. Another face to look out for is that of Joseph Cheong, a man in hot form after taking down the Manila Millions for a cool HK$10,428,000 ($1,343,370).
