GENERAL TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
1. Any reference to the Tournament Director in these rules or related tournament information automatically includes any nominated representatives.
2. There shall be no addition to or removal of Tournament chips from a player’s bank at any time unless it is a re-buy or add on.
3. In the event of two players being eliminated from two separate tables on a corresponding hand, those players will be equal in placing regardless of their bank at the commencement of the said hand.
4. The tournament prize pool will consist of all buy-ins, together with any re-buys and add-ons. Re-buys and add-ons always entitle a player to tournament chips at least equal to the start bank.
5. The Tournament Directors shall be nominated by A.P.A.
6. The Tournament Director will determine the speed at which the game flows. In the event of slow play the Tournament Director may call “time” and the player to act will have one minute. There will be a countdown from ten seconds downwards and if the player is still yet to act upon reaching zero his hand will be declared dead.
7. Tournament entries close ten minutes prior to commencement of tournaments unless sold out earlier - the Tournament Director has the sole discretion to allow entries after this time.
8. In the event a player is absent from the table, cards will be dealt and blinds, antes and forced bets collected as necessary. The hand will be folded.
9. Competitors may not expose their cards or seek advice from other competitors or bystanders - player conduct penalties may apply.
10. The Tournament Director’s decision will be final.
11. All buy-ins, re-buys and add-ons are non refundable, except in the case of a cancelled tournament.
12. Cards entering the muck are dead except in special circumstances where the Tournament Director MAY rule otherwise.
13. Under certain circumstances a hand may be retrieved from the muck and the decision of the Tournament Director is final.
14. In limit games, an oversized chip will constitute a call if there is no announcement or indication of intent to raise.
15. In No-limit or Pot ratio games an oversized chip without an announcement or indication of intent to raise - before the flop will constitute a call; - after the flop, an oversized chip bet without an announcement or indication of intent to raise will constitute the size of the oversized chip bet or the maximum bet permitted within the betting limits.
16. In all games if a player makes a raise of 50% or more of the previous bet without an announcement or indication of intent he/she will be required to make the raise up to the minimum raise permitted or fold and forfeit all chips previously bet.
17. In all games if a player makes a raise of less than 50% of the previous bet or raise, without an announcement or indication of intent it will be taken as a call.
18. Smaller denomination chips will be consolidated to one or more players prior to removal from the table at the discretion of the Tournament Director. (The general rule shall be no more than one higher denomination chip per player).
19. In the event of a split pot, the odd chip will be broken down to the lowest denomination chip in play on the table at that time and be awarded to the player with the highest hole card by suit. (Except in the game of High Low Omaha, if there is an odd chip when splitting the pot between the high hand and the low hand, the odd chip will be awarded to the high hand). The order of suits from highest to lowest is Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs.
20. Once a player is all-in and all action is complete, all players shall turn all cards face up.
21. In the event that a tournament is still in progress at the end of the final level advised on the structure sheet, blinds and/or antes etc will double thereafter at time intervals as determined by the Tournament Director.
22. As a general rule ‘hand for hand’ or ‘round for round’ play will be introduced when the number of players left exceed places paid by one.
23. It is the policy of the Tournament Management to award the pot to the winning hand.
24. The balancing of tournament tables is at the discretion of the Tournament Director.
At all times the A.P.A. will attempt to abide by all T.D.A. rules.CLICK HERE FOR T.D.A. RULES
POKER PLAYER ETIQUETTE
It is in the best interest of poker if all participants comply with the following general rules and poker etiquette during the A.P.A. – S/A Poker Championships. All references to “the dealer” refers to the player responsible for dealing that round or hand.
CASH GAMES:
· Chips must be in plain sight of the dealer and players and the amount visible prior to cards being dealt in order to play.
· Players are not permitted to remove any of their playing bank from the table.
· It is considered impolite to ask to see the hand of a player one has just beaten in a pot, or to use the request to upset another player.
· Although deception is a necessary part of poker, it is not polite to use an excessive amount of time to make a play one knows will be made.
· Conversation should only occur between hands.
· In most cases, a player who has no interest in the pot should still hold onto his hand although nobody has bet and should fold in turn.
· A raise should be announced. A player going all-in should announce that fact.
· A player is entitled to quit the game any time he chooses without suffering criticism.
· Criticism of the way another player has elected to play his/her hand, or his/her general style of play, is impolite and undesirable.
· Players should speak up and assist the dealer by calling attention to an error in the amount of a bet or improper reading of a hand.
· It is improper to make an effort to see another player’s hole cards. It is proper for an opponent to complain when a player is constantly getting the opportunity to see another player’s cards.
· Talk or action demeaning to another player will not be tolerated. Throwing cards, name-calling and other such uncivilized behaviour will be grounds for suspending or barring any player from the Poker Room.
· Each player shall be required to keep all cards dealt to them in full view of the dealer at all times. The dealer is required to ensure compliance.
· Players must protect their hand at all times. There shall be no redress if their hand becomes fouled or the dealer accidentally mucks the hand.
· At the showdown, a winning hand must be clearly displayed in its entirety and properly identified. The player initiating the final bet or raise that is called shall be the first player to show his or her hand at the showdown, whether that action was taken on the last card or on a previous round.
· A hand that has been placed face-up on the table and properly identified is a live hand even if the dealer mucks the hand in error.
· All players have an ethical obligation to speak up if they see an error about to be made in awarding a pot.
· A new player cannot receive a hand on the button or in the small blind. If a player sits down on one of these seats, the button must move to that players left before that player may take a hand or he waits for the blind to come around again.
· Players avoiding blinds shall be ineligible to be dealt cards until correction has been made.
