Fortunately for the 60 that remain, they will have a chance to rest up and enjoy a day off tomorrow before returning on Sunday to battle down till just one remains.

Written by thkcduckworth, 2010 01 15 08:50 pm EST

The Tournament Supervisor has announced that there are three hands remaining in the day's play.

Rubie Doubles

Written by thkcduckworth, 2010 01 15 08:44 pm EST

With around 15,000 in the pot on a flop of {7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades} Brendon Rubie moved all in for his last 26,100 and was called by the player out of the big blind.

Rubie: {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Opponent: {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}

The turn and river landed the {4-Hearts} and {K-Spades} to see Rubie double through to 65,000 in chips.

Dunst Dusted

Written by thkcduckworth, 2010 01 15 08:38 pm EST

With the action on Tony Dunst in late position, he moved all in for his last 36,600 and was called by an opponent on the button.

Dunst: {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} to see Dunst hit the rail as we close in on the end of play.

Wong Knocks Out Two

Written by thkcduckworth, 2010 01 15 08:29 pm EST

Jimmy Wong has dispatched of two opponent's when his {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} held up against an opponent's {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts} after all the money went in preflop.

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds} to see Wong scoop the pot and climb to 75,000 in chips.

Cohen KO'D

Written by thkcduckworth, 2010 01 15 08:26 pm EST

On a flop of {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades} Hugh Cohen fired out a bet of 5,500 only to be check-raised to 13,000.

Cohen made the call before seeing all his chips enter the pot on the turn when the {3-Clubs} fell.

Cohen: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Opponent: {J-Spades}{10-Spades}

Unfortunately for Cohen he would be unable to strike gold on the river as his opponent improved to quads to see the young Melbournian eliminated.

Final Level Of Play

Written by thkcduckworth, 2010 01 15 08:21 pm EST

With blinds at 1200-2400 and a 200-ante there are 70 players remaining in today's tournament for the final level of play.

With only 51 players through to day two from flight one, it will be interesting if today's larger field will yield more day two entrants then yesterday.

Savage Clips Wong

Written by thkcduckworth, 2010 01 15 08:00 pm EST

On a flop of {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} Ben Savage carelessly tossed out a single yellow 5,000-denomination chip from the button.

Jimmy Wong made the call out of the small blind while another player folded his hand.

The turn fell the {2-Hearts} and Wong fired out 10,000, only to have Savage move all in for around 28,000.

After two minutes deliberating, Wong laid his hand down leaving himself just 15,000 as Savage tabled his {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and raked in the pot to move to 53,000 in chips.
