That's A Wrap!
It has taken a little over two weeks but the 2008 Victorian Poker Championships have come to an end. After a gruelling four days of poker Jay "Seabeast" Kinkade has been crowned champion.From the PokerNetwork team we would like to thank you for following the coverage, and look forward to you joining us again when the Poker News Cup hits the Crown Casino from early October.

Jay "Seabeast" Kinkade Wins the 2008 Victorian Poker Championships Main Event ($200,812)!
We've all heard the talk about the abilities of Jay "Seabeast" Kinkade and his online achievements, but now the number one online player in Australia can lay claim to being the best poker player in the country at the moment with his victory in the 2008 Victorian Poker Championships. He takes home the coveted trophy, bragging rights and the $200,812 in prize money!Kinkade emerged as a genuine threat on Day 2 when everyone's knees started to shake at the sight of Kinkade well clear at the top of the chip count leaderboard.
Entering today's final table he had to overcome some big stacks, seasoned professionals and fellow young guns. His ruthless aggression from the point when the table became short-handed was a delight to watch as his opponents simply had no weapons to respond.
Jay "Seabeast" Kinkade is the real deal and we congratulate him on becoming the 2008 Victorian Poker Championships Main Event Champion!

Tino Lechich Eliminated in 2nd Place ($134,768); Jay Kinkade Wins!
Jay Kinkade raised to 100,000 and Tino Lechich made the call from the big blind.On a flop of


Lechich checked and Kinkade led out for 125,000. Lechich moved all-in for an extra 800,000 and Kinkade made the call.Kinkade:

The turn eliminated three outs for Lechich as it fell the repeater
. Drawing to only two outs it wouldn't be delivered on the river when the
hit.With that, Lechich was eliminated in 2nd place earning himself a payday of $134,768 and unofficial title of the most consistent player during the 2008 Victorian Poker Championships with his third "bridesmaid" finish in the last three events.
Kinkade Claims Yet Another Pot
Tino Lechich raised it up to 110,000 and Jay Kinkade made the call in the big blind.The flop landed


and Kinkade checked to Lechich who fired 150,000. Kinkade then moved all in and Lechich folded.Kinkade is slowly chopping away at Lechich as he is now down to 1.2 million chips.
Kinkade Continues To Apply Pressure
Tino Lechich took down the first pot of heads-up play with a 3-bet preflop, however Jay Kinkade soon recovered those chips, with some interest a few moments later.Kinkade raised to 100,000 before Lechich made it 300,000 once again. Kinkade then instantly moved all in.
"I saw you do that before with king-queen!" said Lechich before folding his hand.

Sheldon raised it to 125,000 from the small blind before Jay Kinkade made it 400,000 to go from the big blind. Sheldon then moved all in and Kinkade made the call.Sheldon:

and Kinkade spiked a pair of kings on the turn to eliminate Sheldon in 3rd place for a healthy $98,175 in prize money.We are now heads up for the title! There will be a five-minute break before play recommences.
