| JHDS Event 1: Burning Money? | 2010 03 22 11:28 pm | I played in event 1 and this hand came up. Am I burning money here if I call? My thoughts were on a FT finish not a min cash. I know the play is +cEV but I'm unsure if its -$EV. Runners: ~53 50 Paid Avg Stack: 100K Blinds: 8000/16000 - 2000 Ante Villian MP: 250000 Hero SB: 140000 Folds to MP, MP moves all in, folds to SB. Hero: Ad Kh If I fold, I'm guaranteed to cash and I still have some room to move. If I call and win, I'll be amongst the chip leads and should be able to go deep. If I call and lose, I bubble. I thought this was a standard caller but speaking to a few people (although they aren't poker elite) and they think its a fold. So am I burning money by calling or am I burning money if I fold? |

Villain has been playing tight. The only hand i've see was his KK raise. If he limps, I'm happy to ship. I don't think I have any FE and his range would probably be A4s+, A7o+, KJ+, QJ, 44+ maybe J10. Blinds: 400/800 Ante 100 Villain (26,565) 17/7 (45 Hands) in BB: Hero (9717): 6c5h Folds to SB Hero: ?? I think he will need a strong hand to call off half of his stack. Is this too light to be shoving here? Is there ICM implications seeing I am close to the money? |
| $12 KO FTP spot | 2009 12 16 10:32 am | Hi Guys, I was in a hand last night and I just wanted to get some opinions on whether this is a call or not and if my hand ranges look right. This was a real spewy table - very weak (a lot of limps and folds to raises). I have been pretty active of late. Sorry I don't have the HH. Blinds: 250/500 with antes UTG (4500) - Calls 2 more callers Hero - CO (17000) - Raises to 3000 with 88. Button (10000) - Shoves for 10K Blinds fold UTG calls and everyone else folds. Pot = 18K and I need to call about 7K. Hand Ranges: UTG (Spewtard) - 55+,A8s+,ATo+,KJ+,QJ,JT Button -JJ+,AQ+ Snap Call, Call or fold? Any other advice? |
| $550 Jhds Qq 50/100 | 2009 05 28 03:55 pm | I was talking to a mate who played in the $550 Hachem deep stack (I know that was a while ago but I only spoke to him recently) and he told me about this hand. It's the second level of the JHDS Main event. Stacks ------- Hero 23K (CO) Villian 21K (UTG) - Villian has been playing fairly standard (raising and picking up one or two pots with c-bets on the flop). Action ------------ Pre: Hero Qh Qd UTG limps, 1 fold, MP1 limps, MP2 limps, 2 folds, Hero raises 700, 3 folds, UTG repops to 1700, 2 folds, Hero calls Flop: (Pot ~3800) 6c4s2c UTG bets 2200, Hero ??? Is this a simple fold? Has UTG telegraphed his range (KK+) with his limp raise? |
