Hi Everyone,

A lot has happened at Burswood Poker Room over the past few months and 2010 is looking like it is going to be a great year.

Firstly Burswood Poker Room has a new manager in Deb Wyatt, she has stepped into the role with ease and has all the skills necessary to drive poker forward at Burswood.

Secondly Burswood has joined the ANZPT and season two has just kicked off and is heading our way.

The $2500 Main Event runs March 17 - 21 but several other events including $220 rebuy Pot Limit Omaha, $550 No Limit Holdem Teams Event, $440 & $550 No Limit Holdem and the $4000 HIGH STAKES with a 20K start stack will be run from March 13 - 21.

All dates and details including accommodation specials can be found at burswoodpoker.com.au, although rooms are limited so get in quick to secure your booking. Alternatively you can call Burswood Poker Room on 08 9362 8410 for further details.

To accommodate a tournament of this size along with our existing cash games and additional 9 tables will be on the floor taking Burswood total number of tables to 23.

Burswood Poker Room currently offer $2/3, $5/5 and $5/10 No Limit Holdem, $2/4 and $5/5 Pot Limit Omaha and a $10/20 Limit Holdem game on a daily basis.

We have already had some interest in a higher stakes cash game during the ANZPT week and will happily provide a table for such a game on request.

Any interstate players wishing to pre register for any ANZPT events at Burswood can send an email to request online registration details to dwyatt@burswood.com.au .

Hope to see you in Perth

2009 Western Classic Poker Championships

WA’s most prestigious Poker event returns with 12 chances to qualify into the three day Main Event.

You can qualify from as little as $60 or buy-in directly for $2,500, whichever way you do it, you could be competing for your share of the massive prize pool and be crowned WA’s next Poker champion!

The Main Event starts on Thursday, 29 October with a $20,000 start stack, hour long blind levels and a world class tournament structure over three days. In the days leading up, players can also take part in three standalone events including the Mid-Stakes Limit Holdem Event, Mid-Stakes No Limit Holdem Event and our popular Teams Event.

Last year Marc Des Anges emerged the winner against 138 opponents and walked away with $100,000. Who will take the major prize this year?

Western Classic Day 1 Results2008 11 22

Hello All,

The $2500 NO LIMIT HOLDEM Main Event is underway with a grand total of 139 entrants creating a total prizepool of $319,700.

Day 1A saw 57 entrants take to the felt with 27 survivors at the completion of the 8 levels of play for the day. Play was incredibly tight most of the day with most large pots contested in a AA vs KK/QQ confrontation or set over set post flop.
Notable players eliminated on Day 1A included Sapphire Series winner Lynn Brooks in the first 10 minutes when her 99 crashed into QQ on a Q93 flop, Leo Boxell, Graeme "KIWI" Putt with his QQ walking into AA, and Andrew Capelin in the same manner.
Chip Leaders for Day 1A were Paul Sharbanee and Nik Lackovic.

Day 1B started with 82 entrants and play was considerably more LAG.
Alec Lackovic was running hot early and amassed a huge chip stack, bolstered by a 3 way allin on the flop win when his smaller flush and open ended straight draw hit the straight on the river vs a higher flush draw and top pair top kicker.
Notable players eliminated on Day 1B included David Saab, Mike and Martin Comer, Jay "Seabeast" Kinkade, Nino Moratta and Matt Kirk.
Performing well chipwise in Day 1B were Aleks Lackovic, Marc Desanges, Diwei Huang and Stev Lackovic.
At the completion of the day's play, only 27 survivors would move into Day 2 as Aleks Lackovic took a commanding lead with approx 11% of the total chips in play.

Play for Day 2 begins on Saturday at 12.30pm with 54 remaining entrants.
