WTF? You're saying that you can play comfortably at 5c/10c with 2 buy-ins?

Good response Murph. Gonna have to agree with some of the points you've made and agree to disagree on some others But thanks for responding.

Everytime we come to an election though I always think of the Simpsons: Tree House Of Horrors Episode - Citizen Kang.

Kent: Senator Dole, why should people vote for you instead of President
Clinton?
Kang: It makes no difference which one of us you vote for. Either way,
your planet is doomed. DOOMED!
Kent: Well, a refreshingly frank response there from senator Bob Dole.

Homer: America, take a good look at your beloved candidates. They're
nothing but hideous space reptiles. [unmasks them]
[audience gasps in terror]
Kodos: It's true, we are aliens. But what are you going to do about
it? It's a two-party system; you have to vote for one of us.
[murmurs]
Man1: He's right, this is a two-party system.
Man2: Well, I believe I'll vote for a third-party candidate.
Kang: Go ahead, throw your vote away.

Marge: I don't understand why we have to build a ray gun to aim at a
planet I never even heard of.
Homer: Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

If it's possible to have a proper discussion about politics w/out getting flamed, I wouldn't mind participating in this. Let me just preface this by saying that IMO I don't believe Rudd has truly represented the Labor parties during his term, nor do I believe that the Liberal party offer any genuine alternative. The bipartisan system as it stands in Australia is a joke anyways. Happy to have a fence picture inserted right here.

Murph, I have to address some of the points you've raised in particular, since a lot of them are sweeping generalisations, i'd like to throw some back.

I really hope you're considering the baby bonus that was offered by the Liberal party that has allowed every little skank out there to knock themselves up and get mummy and daddy to raise their kids, while they go and suck up these benefits and enjoy the free money you're talking about.

This is the responsibility of any government that is in place, unless you want to privatise everything.

I'm not sure what evidence you have that the Labor party employs more public servants than the Liberal party, but if you do, then I'm happy to agree with you.

Are you talking about conservative governments from an economical POV or policy POV, because IF the Rudd government continues some of it's nanny-state policies, then I would consider them more conservative than some of the Liberal party ideals as they stand now (however if Tony Abbott has free reign, then I expect an attempt to get us back into the good ol' 1950s)

I couldn't agree with you more, except the thick people you are referring to are more likely to vote with who looks better, or who wears nicer suits than anything else.

Happy to concede any points that I have made if I am proven wrong. Since there are many angry Liberal supporters ITT, I expect some angry responses, but I really just felt that some of the points being made are a little over the top.

Anyways. Cheers, and look forward to a genuine discussion about this.

Re: 2009 results/reflections, and 2010 goals thread

Great thread risk. Really interesting to read everyone's progress and goals.

2009:

- Started off donking around a couple of years back until I decided to get a little bit more serious.
- Came on here and got some great advice about ways to improve my game. I was only really playing micro SNGs and MTTs but as of a few months ago have switched primarily to 6max NLH cash. With a 20 buy-ins rule I'm currently playing 10nl at break even.
-Because of my f/t job, gf and other commitments, I've found it hard to get in good volume, as well as putting aside the time to study the game by watching videos and posting hands etc, but I am working hard at it and plan on finding ways to better utilise my time.

2010:

- More volume
- More studying
- Find more local people to run hand discussions/sweat sessions with (hit me up on msn!)
- Move up to 200nl
- Coaching
- Learn to play other games such as Omaha (i'm a sucker for swings)

I wish you all the best of luck for the rest of the year and for next year too!

Thanks for the discussion guys, gotta lot out of this. Cheers!

Re: 10NL - Flopped set, more value please...

Okay I get it... raise the flop

I know I should be making these plays with my made hands as well as my bluffs. I guess what I am seeing from this discussion is that raising the flop not only gives us value for made hands (such as a set), but also punishes Villain for chasing draws and sets us up so we can re-evaluate the turn (if we are holding a hand like AK). Is this about right?

Well I would consider floating IP with 2 overs, but I don't think I'd be capable of bluff raising on the turn when villain pots again. It would be nice, but with so many calling stations at this level, if Villain has any piece of the board, he's prob not folding. I'm interested why you asked though?

Thanks SP and Risk!

Since you both answered the same answer at the same time, can I ask what method you used to come to this bet size? Whilst I appreciate being told the best bet size, I'd like to learn how this has been calculated, so I can do it myself next time.

Re: 10NL - Flopped set, more value please...

Okay cool.

How much do you like to raise it up to in this position? Bet sizing and v-betting are leaks for me at the moment.
