It is with great sadness that I am announcing that the Jade Tavern will not be opening its doors from today. The past few weeks have been fantastic with the Rugby World Cup but the owners and myself agree that the foreseeable future is bleak not just for our hotel but for the industry. With Labors pre-committment scheme possible, no smoking, council red tape, liquor and gaming taxes strangling the pub industry many small venues are closing up or selling up.

I would like to thank my bar staff, poker staff, abscs committee, family and friends for all their support over the 6 years I have been here to help make our little secret (Jade Tav) a well known community venue. All staff and management will be placed throughout the rest of our group of hotels where possible.

I would also like to thank our owner Nick B, ops manager Scott, and my fellow licensees for your advice, help and assistance over the years.

One door closes, and another opens. I hope that the good times at Jade are not forgotten.

Business decision - although losing the chip chops probably didn't help matters

To what end? Tony is already all-in and Robl has a decision to make - would be the same if Tony had pushed all his chips into the middle - it's fairly standard when going all in to throw the chips in which make the call so you can then work out how much it is going to be for the other player to call

I suppose it meant he got to see Robl's cards but Tony G had no more decisions to make in this hand ...

Pretty sure pubs in NSW aren't trying to bring people into drink - the reason poker boomed in pubs in NSW is because pubs are trying to draw people in to play the pokies

Yeah this - they were taking rake but they're pretty quick at doing it so you might not have noticed - the ever increasing stacks of chips in the dealers tray is a pretty good indicator of this ...

The only way to get the files is to take out the hard drive - but then they're so encrypted they're useless anyway - you can record them to a PVR (if you can find one with the correct inputs) or a TV Capture card - but it's probably quicker / easier to just download the content ...
