Tony, my sister works for Apple store.
We've had a few chats between the three of us since both my brother, sister and I are apple fans.
Even with her inhouse info & training on the product and going over the current specs of the Ipad to
be released... we all agree its better to wait and see rather than jump on the latest craze bandwagon.

Version 2.0 will probably be release 12-18 months after the first version, with significant changes and
improvements made that will undoubtedly make you regret rushing out and getting one.

but if you're going to spend 1/2 to 3/4 of the value of a macbook laptop on an Ipad, get a laptop instead?

Same characteristics, probably longer battery life, same wifi/internet capabilities, when not in use you close
the flap/screen and everything is protected. plus you don't have to continually clean it from grime,
fingerprints etc or worry about a scratched screen in the long run.

Like AusCarl said, wait for all the techno geeks and tossers who like to show off all the latest toys suffer the
brunt of the teething stages for bugs and improvements and then consider it.
