Re: Open Letter To Tim Duckworth

2011 12 21 07:13 pm
The amount of info on this site has deteriorated markedly in the last few months.
The amount of ridiculous troll/argument threads has increased significantly since the death of moderators.
Pokernetwork forums used to be the be all/end all of Poker in Australia.

Am a big fan of pokernetwork, some of the people, the info, the knowledge gain. I rarely look at the main page, yet check the forums pretty much every day. Nowadays there is little other than tools bickering about some irrelevant thing. Some of the best players in Australia used to be regular contributors, they don't post much anymore for a reason.

If/when asiapacific gets a forum, it can only be a good thing. Pokercrack sucked, I sincerely hope there is no deja vu.

I only met Tim once (at a liveament when he was reporting and I introduced myself for a 'detached' response) however, he contributes to (the poker) society, and I not only hope Asiapacific goes well, I'll be supporting it.

Haters can GF. Do something useful, then complain about others.
Even this thread itself is retarded.

Awesome haggling skills by Tunafish. In last and locks up g'teed mid 3-4th plus playing for 200/-

and WTF with Skunkden spazzing out with A4o and then Qxo ? 6 left and you are in 3rd with 200k to play for and he goes crazy, donking it off in a few hands.
I don't get it.

Congrats to them both though. 60,000 runners, just sick.

Fck some 6 post hater Tony forget him.

Whilst a massive degenerate pisshead and possibly the keenest fisherman you have ever met, I'm not a fan of the double. It's almost g'teed one or two of the boys will get queasy. Beer, empty stomachs and rolling seas on a boat do not mix. No offense, it'll be a great day but I think several lads will drop out at 9.30pm.
As the buck you are expected to be there at the end.

IMO a bucks is about stamina. Skinny dipping at Manly/Bondi at 5.30am whilst completely gone with 3 random Swedish backpackers you just met after the races and a 10 hour drinking session wearing a tutu or something equally stupid. etc etc.

Mind you, get a lucky dip of goey and you'll have no problems.

Factor in my advice is for a Bucks, not for romantic meals with the girl, or balla partying. It's for a dozen guys getting shit faced.

Eat at Chinatown. Unless someone really objects this is a no-brainer. Cheap, filling. Easy walk from hotel. Several average pubs around there to warm up before or after with a few lagers. Golden Century is always value. There's a place on Liverpool? st between York and George on the left hand side that is awesome -can't remember what it's called though.

Come out of Chinatown, walk up George st heading North (towards Harbour Bridge). Pub crawl all the way up. Avoid the places right next to the Cinemas, (particularly later on), unless you want to get into a biffo and there are 10 of you. Avoid Cheers, Bar Ace, Paddy Mcguires, Pavilion hotel unless it's early and you stop in for one or two before moving on. Not the sort of place you want to be in smashed at 2am.
You could pub crawl up George st, then turn right at Circular Quay and come all the way back down Pitt st, this will be 30pubs total no problem. Pitt st (and York st) has more 'pub' type places, George st is more clubby, trendy pubs.

In a group of males on a obvious bucks, you will get knocked back from 40-60% of places straight off. Plan on staggering entries, sending the most sober smooth talker up first, or flat out bribing bouncers to get your whole group in.
(semi)Upmarket clubs like Establishment, CBD hotel, Brooklyn hotel, Ivy, etc etc You will have real problems getting more than 4 guys in at a time, and if it's obvious you are on a bucks you won't get in at all. Just a normal pub you'll have no problems, but somewhere like Ivy or The Slip inn I'd say you have almost no chance.
Make sure everyone dresses at least reasonably. 10 guys maggot at 9pm wearing sneakers and a T-shirt will get nowhere.

Scruffy Murphys on Goulbourn st (comes off George st) is always chock full on weekends, backpackers and the like. We got 18 guys in there at midnight with some smooth talking, whilst 3 guys right behind us got barred. Lots of girls there too. Send the boys out on a mission to pick up for the buck and you will have no problems. A total hole of a pub, but perfect for a bucks. One of the bucks I was there on we rounded up girls to come and say hi to the buck (obv buy a drink bribe), he stuck his toungue into I think 6 or 7, pulled his knob out on the dance floor and then tipped a full beer over his head and we didn't get kicked out. Another guy got a polish in the toilets.
Jacksons on George (up near circular quay) is sort of similar.
some decent pubs up around the Rocks, and off the (main) side streets, like Pitt st, York st etc. Forbes hotel comes to mind, nothing fancy - but you'll get in and there are 3 or 4 others within sight too.

Rippers: Avoid Kings Cross, I can't say this enough. Such a over rated hole. You can see the needle marks even under nightclub dim lighting.
Minx, Mens Gallery and Pure Platinum are all on Pitt st, all within 3 or 4 blocks of each other. Expect to pay a cover (10-25ish) at each. Drinks will be hideously expensive, make sure it's not your round when you get there. I'd send 2 guys up the steps, and say 'I've got 15guys on a bucks 5 mins behind me, you are the 2nd stop, no one is drunk yet, how about $200 for all of us ?' or something similar.
Unless things have changed recently, don't expect to see beaver in the main room. Pure Platinum (behind the Hilton hotel on pitt st) would be your best bet there. Minx is the most upmarket in all ways.
Personally I'd get one delivered to the hotel room before you go out for the night and then forget the commercial clubs.

If you dress the buck up: You'll get in at less places, but other places will think it's funny and let you jump the queue (for example Scruffy Murphys), also keep an eye on him later - some dick with his hat on backwards will take offense at 2am almost for sure, particularly around lower George St.

Hope this helps. I love bucks parties. Some of the best boys nights ever.

oh- There is also the Governors Pleasure (up near Wynyard, google it) they specialise in Bucks nights. Crappy dinner, beers, rippers, stage show for like $50a head or something. I haven't actually been there, but mates have said it was decent. Buck got a desert of whipped cream off the chest of some fine lass.

Cheers.

Am busily looking into the ski resorts. Didn't I read somewhere you could get a Pokerstars snowboard as part of the package ?

Re: ANZPT Queenstown

hey, so I won a APPT package last night.

Just to confirm: the NZPT, the ANZPT and the AAPT main events are all the same actual tournament yeah ? The different websites all call it something else, but have the same dates and buy in.
There is only 1 $3k Main event correct ?

Does the club have a courtesy bus ? If so will it come and pick me up ?

I'd like to play 8 of the 11 Night 1a in the first half of the quarter, and 7 of the 11 Night 2b of the 2nd third of the quarter ?

Is the club affiliated with APL, EPL, NPL or LVL ?

I hope we get a members card for all the different events, that way you could collect the whole set. Like Pokemon or Magic. Maybe you could even have a tournament with all the sick regulars and play HU4CARDS!
