| PokerStars WCOOP | 2005 09 07 11:07 pm | I'll be playing tomorrow (Event #4) 6-handed PL Hold'em, yeau2, wondering if anyone else is playing or cares to check in on me do so. Classes and other duties have prevented me from playing the other events so far, so hopefully a one-and-done victory could lock up my buy ins to the rest of them.Anyone else playing other events? |
| Bet Out or Check Raise -- You Decide | 2005 08 09 08:01 pm | Turning Stone Casino $10/$20 limit , Full tableI'm utg with 97s and make it 2 bets to go...loose table, I want to play the hand for value. I've showed quite a few monsters but still havent gotten much respect. Folds to the button who calls, bb calls.Flop: 10 8 4, 2 clubs (i have backdoor spades).BB bets, I raise, Button 3 bets, BB caps, I call, BB calls.Pot: 18.5 bets.Turn: Queen of hearts.Check, I check, Button bets, BB calls, I call.River: 6 of clubs.Check, Now heres where it gets tricky. I put myself on hands down the best hand, but because clubs didn't and the old man Doyle on the button (hes really old) I put on a huge hand, either a set, top 2, or aces. If I bet out I get a call from him and a fold from the bb probably. But if I check, and he bets, I collect a probable 3-4 bets.Comments/questions? |
| Making the Leap | 2005 08 09 07:56 pm | The past several months since I've returned from Australia I've played my fair share of both 10/20 and 15/30 limit both online and in real life. Although I still book my 5/10 sessions regularly, the 10/20 and 15/30 sessions have been successful both in terms of chips and experience.Regardless of these successes, over the long term, although I have not played it that much I have gotten killed at 30/60. I am by no means am playing scared money, but always seem to be getting hustled--a player calling me down with when he should, and fold when he shouldnt, blah blah blah. This coming week is New York State's Empire poker games where the northeast United States brings its fish to upstate New York. I plan on taking a few stabs at 30/60 and 50/100 if the games are decent. My question to you higher limit players: What sort of adjustment do you think I need to make when playing these games, and for 30/60 online, what sort of adjustments/bankroll requirements (500 bbs?) should I make before I seriously begin to try to beat it. |
| Large Tournaments Strategy | 2005 07 25 09:40 am | My question of this week is pretty simple. With the closing of the WSOP this year over 5000 competed. There is well over 1000 people in every major tournament on the major online poker sites (PokerStars Sunday guarnteed and PartyPoker milliong guarnteed).I plan on beginning to play both of these on a regular basis now. First, does anyone have any major cashes in any tournament with over 1000 people and a buy in of 50 dollars or higher? And second, how does everyone feel is the appropriate way to adjust to such large fields? |
| Noble Poker / PokerTracker Compatibility | 2005 07 07 10:35 am | This should probably be in the pokertracker forum, but does anyone know if theres a way to grab hand histories from noble in PokerTracker? |
