"The State of Origin rule, adopted by the AFL commission in 1993, provides for a player to be tied to the state or territory in which he resided for the majority of time between the ages of 10 and 17. Players that have been recruited from overseas, such as Ireland, should be allowed to represent the state/territory which they have resided in the most. For example, Jimmy Stynes represented Victoria with distinction in State of Origin, which means Tadhg Kennelly should be allowed to play for New South Wales." So it's not where you first played, but where you grew up, which in most youngsters cases is probably the same place as where you were born anyway. I have no idea how it works in that silly northern sport but the fact that you admit there are four Blues playing for Queensland is a bit of a farce in itself, and probably not a good model to follow?

We all have our own opinions. My opinion is that every other sporting "State of Origin" contest is determined by where you were born. There's no choosing, nominating or "obtaining a licence" (wtf is that btw?). Do I agree with Ben playing for SA? No. But I take on board that he never rep'd NSW and is recognized as an Adelaide player. Would I agree with Jay representing Vic? Hell no. He's played for WA and grew up playing in Perth. But at the moment there appears to be no way to stop anyone choosing anyone (I'm pretty sure Phil Ivey grew up in the outer suburbs of Launceston btw)....unless Jonno makes some sort of ruling. Some guidelines need to be set, and for me, it should be place of birth.

Re: 2010 WSOP Main Event gogogogogogogogo 2010 07 17 07:58 amHasan Habib opened to 155,000 from early position only to have Tony Dunst move all in for 930,000. Once the blinds passed, Habib made the call to put "Bond18" at risk. Habib: As Kd Dunst: Qs Qd "Well if I go out this way, at least I don't have to explain it!" announced Dunst. The dealer dropped the Ks 4s 5d flop to put Habib in the lead and leave Dunst drawing to just two outs. The 3c changed little on the turn, but it would the Qh on the river that would send the railbirds into an eruption of cheers and applause. "That's just ridiculous!" uttered an amazed Dunst as he collected the pot to move to 2,030,000 while Habib slips to 985,000 in chips.
