| 'Fuck My Telco' | 2011 04 07 09:00 am | Take control of your phone/internet/pay tv carrier and get what you pay for! There is no protection in Australia the corporate giants moving into your world and monopolising the market for their financial throne. In my experience all telecommunications companies are scum. I worked inside the industry for period of time and got to understand how all branches of the tree work. Most of you will encounter Telco problems of some sort and there are hundreds of companies looking to take advantage of you. Here is the my example of how to get everything you deserve for your dollars. Firstly. Telcos can do always do a better deal. The industry is worth billions and the 'average individual bill' for Telco coverage in Australia is one of the most expensive worldwide. In my language 'they're just fucking us over'. It is ridiculous how cheap 'pay tv', 'phone credit' and 'data usage' really is compared to what they charge. Australians seem to be content with paying ridiculous amounts on every god damn service one can provide. Heckle your coverage companies. ie. Telstra, Vodafone, Foxtel. Always be intent on possessing the new equipment, always demand upgrades. If you get resistance, threaten disconnection, threaten the supervisor, conjure up stories of better deals, better phones on better plans. Lie, cheat, steal because they bloody will. If you won't play their game you will never win. Anyway, this process will take time, hours in phones queues waiting on annoying customer service agents. But it WILL save you hundreds, some even thousands per annum plus you will enjoy the best service with the best technology. So, ALL of you will encounter Telco bullshit and they will try to control you with threats of suspensions, cancellations and disconnection fees. Your free tool to battle these scum companies is called the TIO or [telecommunications industry ombudsman]. This is because everytime the TIO is contacted, the corresponding Telco is fined. The higher and further the customer takes the complaint through the TIO, the higher the fine imposed by the TIO. On a case by case basis it is far cheaper for a Telco to disount or credit a customer than it is to pay the TIO for industry breaches. A free phone or a $300 discount on your bill is alot easier to deal with than several levels of infringment penalties. AGAIN! All Australians should learn how to best deal with their phone/internet/pay tv companies. It WILL save you money plus you will get the best. How I did it and how I would do it again. You want to get out of your contract because you are unhappy or even looking to get a better deal but your carrier still has you locked under contract. Contact the TIO, make an official complaint and all your wishes will come true. The official complaint will include claims of bad reception, poor equipment, incompetent customer service, incorrect billing and overcharging. The TIO, using Australian legislation will beat your Telco into submission thus surrendering to all of your commands. All Telcos will consistantly ignore customer complaints while sticking to protocol but with TIO backup they jump to attention because of the mandatory penalties imposed. This is highly expensive and time consuming for the Telco and they want to avoid these confrontations at all costs. They will either match a competitors deal, upgrade your phone or release you from your contract. Trust me. Keep complaining and you will win. The same goes with billing etc. Ever receive one of those ridiculous $1200 bills that highlight massive excess data usage or that strange STD phone call that for some reason is not included in your 'unlimited cap'. Some telco's can drag these situations out for months trying to suspend you and cancel you into submission. Most humans cringe at the thought of a suspended account and these customer service agents are just all about the threats. If you dont pay 'X' amount, then we will do 'Y' to you. 'How about I give you the finger, tell you to go fuck yourself and contact the TIO' WINNER! /rant |
| Your Top 3 Influential Sources? | 2011 03 26 07:06 pm | I originally just blogged the below but I thought fuck it. Might get a thread out of it. I am always on the hunt for exciting subject matter worthy of devour eg. music, books, journal, documentaries, life experiences anyway .. You are what you eat and humans are a product of their environment ... etc etc So, Who inspires you? Who has changed you? Who has helped shape you as a person? Firstly, when I was 5 years old I found soccer and every youngster had their favourite teams and players. I played 10 years of representitive soccer as a youngster and I can still remember where I found the original motivation. I hired this random 'Top 100 goals' VHS where the 'West Germans' mainly Jurgen Klinsmann and Lothar Matthaus featured heavily. Just the fantasy of playing like them gave me this superhuman buzz as a kid. Shaped my entire childhood and definitely defined me as the competitive, sports mad human I am. Secondly, As a 13y.o kid I found $250 in the sand on a Gold Coast beach. Call it divine intervention but I was somehow seduced into purchasing the entire Pantera and Metallica catalogues while also being lured into buying my first bag of sticky green. So between the age of 13 and 17 while being publically educated, the devil managed to fuse me together with my yellow Sony walkman and a constant supply of green where I lived and loved life smoking myself stupid to a Heavy Metal soundtrack. A classic example of why people end up with anger issues! Lastly, probably my biggest influence ... A few of my oldest friends including me got involved with heavy party drug use just out of high school to our late teens/early twenties. Ectasy, Speed, Cocaine, Ice, Fantasy, LSD. Some of us moderated. Some of us went to the extremes. Anyway ... Fight night ...Mundine vs Green. We decide on staying away from the pubs and purchase the PPV on Fox. We need to do a run for supplies so my mate (I'll just call him P) grabs the keys and we head out. We drive to get alcohol, get weed, get mood enhancers etc etc. My mate at this point is fine but I am aware he has been smoking a fair amount of ICE because I have been sharing the action. After running around for an hour or so getting the goods we pull back up in our driveway. He puts the car in park, pulls up the handbrake and switches off the ignition. It is at this point that my friend has one hell of a seizure. Eyes rolled back in his head, violent jerking, strange moaning sounds. I fucking freak out. What if he'd had a seizure whilst the vehicle was in motion. I have been smoking the same shit and my friend is unconscious beside me shaking furiously. So I beep the horn frantically which alerts the crew inside. The boys burst out the front and we drag him into the passenger seat. I rush P to the Hospital in Southport as we are only a few blocks away. I drive straight up the emergency ambulance driveway, jump out like a madman and start ranting for a doctor. It is at this point that I see P crawling from the passanger side into the drivers side. He begins to yell at me to get him the fuck out of there. He starts tearing up about 'authorities getting him' so I persuade him to jump back into the passenger side and we speed off. That was nearly 6 years ago and that scenario scared me away from chemicals for life. I never touched the shit again. |
| employment | 2011 02 24 10:24 am | I have found becoming a TD or poker employee of sorts is quite a hard task for some. Maybe it is just my character that is unemployable. It seems is it not 'what' you know, but rather 'who' you know nepotism ftw All I want to do in life aside from my family responsibilities is run and play poker. Anyone out there looking for a competent TD? maybe should post in pub/home games? |
