PLO50 - line check, flop bottom set + nut flush draw in BB2009 10 28
02:10 am
Just wanted to get thoughts on this line after flopping bottom set in BB in unraised pot with a flush redraw.

I probably need to take less high variance lines (especially when OOP) but I don't really think there's any other way to play this optimally. Maybe other options for turn but villain was unknown so I felt leading with aim of getting it in on river was best.

Fairly gross river card but I'm never check-folding this spot. Anyone else do anything different on the river?

Thanks for thoughts guys!

cheers
Max

PLO50 Line check vs CS2009 10 25

This guy had been raping me all session. Limp calling in position with trash hands, not even suited aces, and hitting vs me.

The last hand we played I turned trips but he rivered bigger trips and check called when I bet because I figured he was such a station I could probably profitably bet the river.

I thought the line I took here was best vs this villain but wanted to get other thoughts.

PLO8 Theory - flop nuts in SB but heavy action and no redraw2009 09 09

So I'm dabbling in poker again but more with Omaha rather than NL. I'm not much of a PLO8 expert but have been getting my head around some PLO8 theory. This hand came up in and I was stumped as to what to do.

I butchered the flop by just flatting but with all that action to me and no redraws or a decent low hand, figured I could fold and still have a decent stack to play with (it was the fifth hand or something).

In the 15 second "time bank" I had, I surmised all the above and in the aftermath of the hand, my thoughts are the same.

Too nitty? Open to criticism and discussion. FWIW I'm not sure why I flatted the flop OOP in a multiway pot and in hindsight, should have probably raised as it would have made the hand much easier to play.
50PLO line check - flopped middle set with redraw to flush2009 04 24

I'm pretty sure pre-flop call is bad especially with shortie in BB as I don't want to call a reraise pre with my hand, but while playing six-handed and trying to "learn" PLO, I'm calling pretty loose in position and trying to get my head around the intricacies of the game as NLHE is boring me. Anyhow, like all small stakes PLOL tables, lot of people calling in and out of position with some pretty ragged hands. I figured plenty of implied odds and a chance to have position in a big raised pot.

More or less a gin flop for my hand. Obviously I have no FE against hangis so figured I'd flat so Kadanga would come along too.

His check-raise really confused me because I felt that if he hit flop - or basically had KK which is only hand I'm worried about - he'd probably bet out to protect his hand versus draws. Also, I figured he could also be trying to isolate versus hangis with a big draw, so decided to reraise all-in in the hopes of getting as much money in the middle as possible and play a big pot.

I'm pretty average at NLHE and could possibly be even worse at PLO, but thought I'd post this here and get thoughts on my line. Maybe I need to change my approach to PLO? I'm very much of the high variance mindset of getting money in with big draws and not giving people a chance to get away from their hands on turn or river if scare card hits, but I'm open to criticism and thoughts. I realise a lot of my problems have been compounded by pretty loose preflop call...

Thanks all!

cheers
