Aussie Millions Player of the Year 2012 (unofficial)2012 01 22
11:28 pm
Poker media and players alike often report that the Aussie Millions is the 2nd best tournament series after the World Series, or at worst, top 5. Therefore, I believe that Crown should have a Player of the Year award, or more accurately, Player of the Series award. So I've started an unofficial Player of the Year Award for the current series.

Schedule: http://www.aussiemillions.com/download-schedule
POY Formula: http://www.bluffmagazine.com/wsop-poy/formula.asp

Notes:
- for the purpose of the POY buy-in multiplier, the buy-in for rebuy events is prizepool/players (ie. avg buy-in)
- at this stage, thinking the High Roller, Super High Roller, Chinese Poker and $550 events should NOT be included
- Teams event will count, with both players receiving full points
- undecided on whether the $25k NLH Semi-Shootout should be included

All these issues can be decided upon in time for next year if an official POY Award is on offer.

I welcome any constructive feedback. After 6 events, the standings are:

10:50pm: Two Players Disqualified
We’ve just caught wind of our first major controversy of the Aussie Millions as two players have been caught red-handed in a game of old “switch-a-roo”. However the cunning duo was not able to escape the eye of the Crown Poker tournament staff and have now been dealt with accordingly. As requested by Crown tournament staff, we won’t be releasing the names of the individuals involved, so for the sake of the story, let’s call them “Player A” and “Player B”.

The incident occurred following the elimination of “Player A” from the tournament. “Player B” was still alive and continued to play as normal until their table broke. It is alleged that during the walk from their original table to the new location, “Player B” handed their chips and new seating card to the previously eliminated “Player A” who then took the seat and played the stack as if it was their own.

An eagle-eyed tournament supervisor spotted that “Player A” was back in the tournament after previously being eliminated, and surveillance confirmed the crafty switch play. This seemed like a pretty odd thing to try and do in a repechage event, but apparently the motive was that “Player B” was unable to play Day 2 on Sunday due to other commitments after presumably satelliting into the event.

Crown Poker tournament staff advised Poker Asia Pacific that both players had been disqualified and a process had been initiated for both players to be barred from Crown Casino for a substantial period of time.
