Re: Who is staked by who?

i haven't read this whole thread (it spans 17 months)

but i was recently talking to a poker player who's position was this:

1. the backer and player should never play the same tournaments - there is just too much chance of collusion
2. if players swap %'s or buy pieces of each other before the tournament, the deal should be considered dead if they are ever dealt into the same hand
3. people playing out of the same bankrolls are just so likely to collude that it shouldn't be allowed in the same tournament

He said he's been deep in large live tournaments and seen guys check call the nuts .. had the TD called over and all the guy got was a warning and to sit out a round... when what he was doing was cheating and basically taking money off the remaining players..

he was of the opinion that poker players don't get nearly as angry as they should... it wouldn't be allowed in any other sport (nadal can't buy a piece of federer or swap 10%).

Rent a big house in Melbourne

2010 06 26 10:41 am
Thinking of the Aussie Millions.

Does anyone know any place you can hire a 5-8 bedroom furnished house in Melbourne.

I've seen these in vegas for around 2k USD/week... Its probably more than that in Melb... but i can't find any place that does it.

Anyone know where you can get these?

Re: sponsorship, ATT:grunter

my guess at this:

i think it comes down to having a profile..

there are lots of good players around today (so many people have now won the Sunday Million/Mulligan/750k/a bracelet/FTOPS etc).

so i think the sites are much more likely to sponsor you if you do things like:
0. win lots of tournaments
1. keep a well read blog
2. write articles on poker
3. have a big forum presence
4. be a friendly guy or a brat (i reckon brat is better)
5. have a twitter account with 10,000 followers

basically have as many people as possible know who you are - then you can offer something back to the poker site - you can promote their site to people who know you.

Re: PokernewsCup Satelites

2009 09 16 12:37 pm
These are great satellites, last night there were less than 20 players for a $2.2k AUD seat.

Buyin is $25+5 (its a rebuy, so you can probably factor in at least one more buy in), still the overlay is huge.

These are running nightly at 9pm Sydney/Melbourne time on Tony G Poker.

There are 7 more to go i think (from Wednesday 16th September)

There are 8 great satellites to the Pokernews Cup running this week (from Tuesday 14th September) at 9pm Australian Eastern Standard Time on Tony G Poker. Only $25+5 and probably great overlay!

Tony G's looking to put a bunch of people into these satellites, please see:

Re: Big overlay Horse 50k backing

Hi

Yes some of the auctions the players you are bidding on have not listed events (others have like Lisandro, Tony G, Crocky etc).

I think it has been pointed out above, par value of 0.1% of the $50k is $50 a share.

You do have to pay per bid (thats how we make money) but at the moment many auctions are selling for a fraction of the $50, even if you add up all bid costs (and especially taking into account there are often 2nd and 3rd place prizes).

Cheers
