Since I didn't leave Crown till 7am - and expecting to be buggered - I degened it up but only played a limited schedule.

Got owned in the $11 Rebuy and cashed in some crappy $2.20 tourney, but still in the Sunday Millions sitting 330/427 and guaranteed $5xx atm.

Can I use my one time today please?

Obst in Overdrive

We picked up the action on the turn in a heads-up pot as the board read , and there was close to 50,000 in the pot. James Obst was first to act, and he led out with 36,000. Andrew Robl took his time considering before making the call, and things were getting serious as the landed on the river.

Obst picked up more chips and made a final bet of 95,000, drawing a long gaze from Robl. He looked pretty pained as he tanked over the decision, and it would be at least three or four minutes before he uncapped his cards and returned them to the muck.

"I'll give you $100 to see your hand," Robl tried. Obst smirked and shook his head, but Robl reached back and pulled out his wallet. "Two hundred." Still a no, so he tried one last time. "Three hundred bucks?" Obst wasn't having it, sending his cards back to the dealer face-down as he chips his way up over 600,000.

I did fold, and the UTG player had 88 and ran into the big blinds AA.

Re: Young gun

2011 01 04 02:53 am
I don't really wanted to get involved in this heated discussion, but thought I'd drop my two cents for the hell of it.

I think qualification for Young Gun awards should be based on one of two categories.

A - Under 30 years of age
B - Known to the wider poker community (as judged by PokerNetwork or whatever is the qualifying body) for less then two years

I also believe that players should be eligible to win both Player of and Young Gun of the Month Awards on more than one occasion throughout the calender year.

Not being based in Melbourne, poker players are vary rare to come across, and consequently home games are virtually un-existence over the $5 buy-in mark.

With a few friends getting into poker, we hit the pub poker scene at least twice a week, and although there are no real prizes up for grabs - apart from a $25 venue voucher and points to become a top 5 venue qualifier for the state finals - I still take it 100% seriously.

I ain't sitting there with an ipod or calculating ranges etc, but I do try and play properly. Toss in the 7-3 etc, and try - like most times you sit at a poker table - WIN! However . . . after countless final tables I still have yet to secure victory.

The one thing I don't do, is take any beat seriously. Some of these guys have no clue what they're doing, and some think they are the bees knees, but I just sit there, nod along with whatever they say and just play my cards.

If my Kings get cracked, oh well, it was free to enter, i spent $10 on drinks to get a rebuy card, and had some fun with mates.

Re: Aussie Millions 2011 Main event seat For Sale!

2010 12 20 07:58 pm
Firstly, do you understand the conditions of holding an Aussie Millions seat?

I'm assuming you won it at Crown (because if you bought it, you would be able to get a refund minus the vig), and if it is your only seat, then you won't be able to sell it until you win another.

Penultimate 2010 Gogogogogo Thread . . .

2010 12 20 08:00 am
Has everyone ended their year prematurely or does no one care about the old sweat threads?

Anyway, being the penultimate Monday for 2010, thought I'd kick it off with my first sweat thread.

Playing as much as I can fit over two monitors and a laptop . . . all the micro-stakes stuff ($1-$26) plus some of the majors like the Sunday Mirrions across PokerStars, Full Tilt and Absolute.

Good luck to everyone out there!!!

I've got some old webcasts from Crown (from 2007-2008 when they were doing webcasts) & they are great. Woiuld be fantastic to have the same sort of thing for the APPT Sydney. It also gives you a much different perspective on the final table than an edited 'made for TV' version would.
The guys that put it together are from the UK and work for a company called Volcano xxxxxx

Maybe Luke L will be able to provide better info once he gets back from his holidays

AcKc in big blind facing a 5x utg open

2010 12 15 06:16 pm
Had this hand come up the other day to give me a WTF reaction when my opponent opened to 5x utg.

I was pretty sure he either mis-clicked opened (size wise) or range was weighted to small-medium pairs. Therefore is my ship - although a big one of 25-BBs - semi-standard, gross or just purely retarded?

Also, if we upped the buy-in to say $11 or $22, does the hand change at all?

(Note: no decent stats on villain as he had only been at table for an orbit or so)
