PNW player of year2005>

To all those observant readers please noite that the heading is incorrect: should read Year 2005 only and not 2000 to 2005. Which is the next post.
Sorry - another senior moment.

Unfortunately Matt we only have the capacity to rate Australasian events. At present the tournaments are ChCh, Crown Melbourne, Victorian and Aussie Millions. We hope that over the next few years we can include Star, Sky, Burswood and others who may join Pokernetwork and the circuit.

The rankings are based on the Euro system and represent the best performance of Australasians players in open events.

Who is the best Australasian Poker player for 2005? I don't know.
Who has won the biggest event - Aussie Joe Hachem in the 2005 WSOP.
Who is the highest ranked PNW player, well it is the scion of the Crown Poker Room, Stickey Mickey hilself.

The rankibgs for the year have been quite exciting to follow. The first 14 at the beginning of the Victorian Champs were all in the hunt. The Vic Champs was the decider. Guttman needed to hold his lead and hope that non of the contenders picked up big points; and so it happened.
Tahtouh, Comer, Mamacas, Mordaunt and Hegyi were the threat that didn't eventuate whilst Potter and Gardner jumped up the ladder with the Voctorian Main Event. There were plenty of newcomers in the Silk, Johnstone, Skecic and Alison class who should show up next year. Surprisingly Mark Vos failed to shine in the totals but won the PL Omaha with a bit of style. Masterakos and Ververis held up the veteran end.
Argyros, Lechich and Khouiss Champions out of luck.
I suppose none of us will ever know who the "best" player of the year was but at least we can be sure who was most consistent for 2005 in Australasian events.

Well done Michael Guttman. I hope some sponsor picks you up overseas.

With the advent of the Hotshots and Junior Championships online we have nominated Emad Tahtouh (the open runner up) as the Junior Champion of the year.

Well done Emad. I also hope some sponsor picks you up.

And to all the players and Casino staff many thanks from PNW for the privilege of recording these events of 2005.

The Aussie Millions at Crown 2006 will commence the 2006 ranking season.

Three Melbourne guys seem to dominate these renkings.
Sammy Korman 2001 and 2004
Leo Boxell 2003 and
Michael Guttman 2002 and 2005.
It is an eachievment to win one year but two?

A little like the Adelaide Australasians.
Pommy Pete Jones and Tony Frasca.
Ain't easy

Out of towners picked up six titles this year;
Jovan Skecic from Perth Burswood, Mark Vos from Qld/Sydney? QPN, Anthony Donjerkovic from Adelaide APA, Danny Silk from Qld QPN, Martin Comer/Sammy Khouiss Sydney APA and Alison Lightman Sydney APA.
Worth the travel expense I heard.
When I get around to it I will isolate the Vic Champs results and find the points leader (first nine places.)
