Day 1 of Event #27: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. is officially in the books! After 10 hours of mixed game play, just 144 players remain with Jason Risebenberg bagging up the biggest stack in the room with 72,600 in chips. Close on his heels is none other than 1996 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Huck Seed, who put 59,400 into the bag.

Today's event saw a total of 743 entrants hit the felt with the hopes of becoming the next WSOP bracelet winner. These entries amounted to a total prize pool of $1,003,050 and the top 80 players will receive a slice of that money. A min-cash is worth $2,577 while first place will net the winner an astounding $230,744.

Seed, who bagged up one of the top stacks, received a solid portion of his chips during the last level of the night. Seed played a key stud 8 pot against a single opponent, making a club flush and a seventy-six low to scoop all of the chips. This put Seed toward the top of the counts and allowed him to cruise through the end of the night.

While Riesenberg and Seed bagged up the largest stacks, other notable players also thrived throughout the day and will return for Day 2 with a shot at first place and the bracelet. Some of the familiar faces coming back include two-time bracelet winners John Monnette (43,900) and Dutch Boyd (43,400), Adam Friedman (36,400), Roland Israelashvili (31,700), Greg Raymer (30,700), three-time WSOP Circuit ring winner Phil Hui (27,800), Aaron Steury (27,600), Richard Ashby (24,200), Tom McEvoy (21,900), David "ODB" Baker (19,700), Allen Kessler (16,700), Joe Kuether (16,000), Xuan Liu (12,400), and Dan Heimiller (10,000).

The aforementioned players were the fortunate ones in the day, bagging up chips and guaranteed a spot in the Amazon room tomorrow. Many others, on the other hand, were not as fortunate. Some of the players to participate in today's event only to find elimination include Daniel Negreanu, David Williams, Brandon Cantu, Jeff Madsen, David Bach, Konstantin Puchkov, Ari Engel, Scott Clements, Erick Lindgren, Bill Chen, Fabrice Soulier, Matt Savage, and Brock Parker.

Play resumes at 1 p.m. on Friday in the Amazon Room. As always, be sure to tune into PokerNews for all of the latest updates from the tournament felt. Goodnight!

Anderson Scooped

Omaha 8

Calvin Anderson raised from early position and found calls from the players in the cutoff and the small blind. The three saw {6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} hit the felt and the small blind checked. Anderson continued out only to have the cutoff put out a raise. The small blind flatted, Anderson three-bet, and both of his opponents calld.

The {J-Clubs} hit the turn, putting three clubs on the board. Action checked to the cutoff and he fired a bet. Both the small blind and Anderson stuck around. The {4-Hearts} completed the board and there were two checks to the cutoff once more. He cut out one final bet that received two calls. The cutoff tabled {A-Clubs}{c}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for an ace-high flush and the nut low. He scooped the pot, leaving Anderson with just about 9,000 in chips.

Seed Scoops Huge Pot

Posted 2014-06-13 GMT-7 • Level 10

Stud 8

Huck Seed: {X-}{X-}/{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}/{X-}
Opponent: {X-}{X-}/{K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}/{X-}

We get to the table with a massive amount of chips in the middle in action that was apparently capped on sixth street and saw Huck Seed's opponent call off the last of his chips on seventh street when Seed bet. "If you don't have a flush, I have it," said Seed as he turned over {J-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a jack-high flush and a 7-6 low. His opponent couldn't beat it and was eliminated. Seed in the meantime moved to 56,000 in chips which moves him to the top of the chip counts.
