Aussie Millions Celebrity Poker Challenge

The red carpet was laid out in the Crown Casino this evening for a mix of celebrities, International and local poker players for the Aussie Millions “Celebrity Poker Challenge”.

“Studio 3” at Crown was transformed into a party atmosphere complete with showgirls, DJ and flashing camera bulbs. There was even a fancy dress station. No surprise Billy “The Croc” Argyros wasn’t shy in donning a wig, hat and over-sized glasses for a memorable snap.

Last year’s Main Event champion Tyron Krost was happy to return to the scene of his triumph, while International players Howard “The Professor” Lederer, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow and Barney Boatman were also spotted with a slew of local players. Matusow caught up with PokerNetwork's own Lynn Gilmartin for a quick chat during the evening...

Also in attendance was poker’s answer to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt – “Moob”.   At least that’s what PokerNetwork has dubbed the power couple of Annette Obrestad and Scott Montgomery. Tony Hachem also impressively worked the room shuffling around on one crutch.

The complimentary food and drinks flowed as Shane Warne welcomed everyone to the event. All proceeds from the night were to be passed onto Variety (via The Shane Warne Foundation) to help children affected by the floods.   Blue ribbons were worn by all in recognition of the natural disasters that have been ravaging parts of Australia.

The event was transformed from last year’s 16 table tournament into a 4 table team showdown. Fun was had by all for a great cause – and there was even a little poker played!
