After 239 players began, the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event has been cut down to just 68 players after the conclusion of Day 5.
The big news from the second level of Day 5 is that defending Main Event champion Greg Merson has been eliminated. Brett Richey scored the bustout.
Brett Richey raised to 40,000 from middle position, and Greg Merson moved all in next to act for 481,000. As soon as action got back to Richey he made the call, and the defending champ was in need of alot of help.
Yann Dion raised it up to 40,000 in middle position, and action folded to Greg Merson in the small blind. He moved all in, a bet of 460,000 total, and it folded back to Dion.
The first level of Day 5 is in the books. Out of the 239 players who started the day, now only 187 remain. Jon Lane, who started the day at the top of the leaderboard, still leads with over three million in chips.

What a day of poker that has wrapped up in the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event. Today was Day 4 of the greatest tournament of the year, and it was a barn burner to say the least.
Jackie Glazier opened to 27,000 in early position and Greg Merson defended his big blind. The flop came down and Merson checked to Glazier who bet 33,000. Merson check-raised to 102,000, resulting in a Glazier shove with the bigger stack.
Steve Gee raised to 37,000 under the gun and was called by Evandro Vitoy de Queiroz on the button and Greg Merson in the big blind. The flop fell and action checked to de Queiroz who bet 37,000.
