Day 3 of the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event is all over. Today marked a very important day for the event, as the survivors from all starting fields finally united together in one field of play.
We've reached the final 20-minute break here on Day 3 of the 2013 WSOP Main Event. The board is showing that 792 players are still alive, and with only 648 players making the money, the bubble is rapidly approaching.
Phil Ivey began the day by chipping up from 198,800 to 330,000 in Level 11. He appeared on the verge of jumping into the top five, but lost a sizable pot to fall back to about 180,000.
Phil Ivey raised to 7,500 from middle position and was called by four opponents, including Michael Mizrachi on the button. The flop came down and Ivey bet 20,000. Only Mizrachi came along to see the turn which Ivey checked.
Igor Rabinovich opened to 7,500 from middle position. Phil Ivey called from the cutoff, Michael Mizrachi called from the big blind, and the flop fell . Action checked to Ivey who bet 15,000.
We've reached the dinner break of Day 3, and Dick van Luijk is the new leader after amassing a gigantic stack in Level 13.
Phil Ivey raised to 6,000 from under the gun and was called by the player in the hijack. Max Steinberg called from the big blind and the flop came down . Ivey continued for 15,000, both opponents called, and the turn fell.
Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi was just moved to Phil Ivey's table at the ESPN main stage (along with Anthony Gregg) and it took a predictable two hands for them to clash.
Bill Phillips opened to 7,000 in the cutoff and Phil Ivey called on the button. The flop came down and Phillips bet 16,000. Ivey raised all in and after a few moments, Phillips called all in for about 67,000 with , trailing Ivey's .
Start-of-Day 3 chip leader Mark Kroon paced the field for most of the first two levels, but a new leader emerged just before the second break.
Over on the main feature table, Phil Mader raised from early position. Action then folded to Phil Ivey in the big blind, and he made the call to see the flop. This is where the action got heavy. After Ivey checked, Mader fired 6,000.
Day 2c has come to a close here at the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event. The Rio was a jam-packed place for poker's greatest tournament all day long, with play taking place in all three rooms.
A player raised to 2,600 in early position, James Mitchell called on his left, and a third player moved all in for 7,900 in the cutoff. Phil Ivey cold-called on the button, and both the original raiser and Mitchell folded.
Robert Mizrachi and Phil Ivey are now sitting next to one another at a table in the Amazon Orange section, and just a short while ago the pair got involved in a hand against one another.
From the hijack seat, Dermot Blain, winner of the 2009 APPT Macau Main Event and fifth-place finisher in the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event, raised to 2,300 after action folded to him.
The action folded around to Phil Ivey in the hijack, who opened to 2,000. His opponent on the button raised it up to 5,000, as both blinds got out of the way. With the option back on Ivey, he bumped it up to 13,000.
There was about 10,500 in the middle when we arrived to see Phil Ivey in the middle of a three way pot. The flop read , and the big blind checked to Ivey, who bet out 6,000.
Phil Ivey came into today with a very healthy stack of 119,650, but the first level hasn't gone well for him, as we just caught him losing a pot to drop him to 70,000.
Day 1c of the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event proved to be the biggest and baddest of the starting days, topping out at 3,467 players and surpassing last year's record-second field of 3,418 that was largest one-day Main Event field in
