Huge Turnout For Flight 1 of The $100k Guaranteed Event at APPT Melbourne

The Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Melbourne festival kicked off on Monday and what a way to raise the curtain it was.

When the Crown Poker Room made the announcement that they were going to open APPT Melbourne with a $50 buy-in No Limit Hold'em tournament with a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool there were those who thought the management team had gone crazy! But once again they have proved to know their clientèle perfectly because it looks like the guarantee is not only going to be met but if the attendance keeps up with Flight 1's figure then it will be smashed.

Flight 1 saw an impressive 286 entries and a further 105 add-ons meaning over $30,000 is in the prize pool already! Finishing at the top of the pile was Aun “Arnie” Lim who bagged up 257,000 chips. Only two other players managed to finish the day with at least 200,000 chips, Busra Kaluntakasuwon (239,000) and Mark Cowie (200,000), but there were plenty more who will start Day 2 with at least a six-figure stack.

Flight 2 was completed last night but we are still awaiting the figures coming through but we have reason to believe it was another bumper crowd. Just how big is this prize pool going to be?
