How did you start playing poker?

If we asked you to draw a picture of a poker player, it's inevitable that you'd include headphones in your picture. Headphones are a necessity for live poker players because hours on end in the same chair and with the same people can be tedious without our beloved iPods. The only problem is, if you really get into a song, or there happens to be a particular player you’re trying to tune out, then we can get carried away and turn the volume up to a potentially dangerous level, causing noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL).

You just bought your dream car. You know the petrol station you are about to drive past has dirty petrol, but it's that tiny bit cheaper and less effort than doing a U-turn to use the petrol station across the street that you know has good quality petrol. Standard choice is the dirty option, right? Cheap and easy is the way to go? Obviously not.
Our body is the primary vehicle that we have in life, and it's a heck of a lot more valuable than a car, so why would we fill it with dirty fuel?

I recently discovered that not only is Jesse McKenzie a successful Australian poker player with PokerStars Sunday Million title to his name and currently sitting third in the ANZPT Player of the Year race, but he is also a former member of the New South Wales Institute of Sport, where he used to compete nationally in lawn bowls.
Through his experience there, he was given all sorts of training on how to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, not only at home, but also while on the road, and he has carried those lessons into his poker-playing lifestyle.

PokerStars introduced changes to its VIP Program on Jan. 1, 2012.
Last week, the online poker giant announced that it was changing its VPP program from the "dealt" method to the "weighted contribution" method, which significantly changes how VIP points are disbursed at a ring game table.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I got my hands on Tri “SlowHabit” Nguyen’s new book, How I Made My First Million From Poker. The title certainly appealed to me (hey, I’d like to make a million dollars playing poker), but I wasn’t sure if it was a strategy manual or simply a recounting of Nguyen’s tale. Speaking of Nguyen, I must admit that I was unfamiliar with his accomplishments, and as is often the case, I was skeptical reading a book by someone I didn’t know.
