Mell's restless sleep has really been keeping me awake, so Thursday I didn't start my session until 7am or so. She woke up around 8.30am and said she was starting to feel better and was interested in getting out of the house for a bit in the afternoon, so I stopped registering and figured we would end up heading somewhere for lunch.
On the contrary, I ended up running deep in the Stars 55/40k. It was a relatively soft field with two tables to go, however by the time we got to the final table I had the worst table draw, with (aggro) YanniYankievich, the chip leader and a shortstacked dave798111 to my left, which meant my 18bb was pretty much a raise/call stack since I had no chance of taking anything down preflop. Despite this, I flipped well a couple of times and ended up being the chipleader four handed. Around this point I had a decent rail going and managed to fall foul of Pokerstars chat policies yet again via a cheerful rendition of Like A Boss, so my chat is gg'ed for another month lol.
Three handed the chip lead went back and forth a bit, but one player was a huge donator and terrible and the other one was a breakeven aggro, so I kind of felt like if I could get chips off the weaker guy I could probably close it out for the win. Anyway, the following hand went down and I bust third for just under 5k:

...and then headed out for late lunch at Provenance on Smith Street around 3pm.
I also just found out that with my scores this week I've moved up to #11 spot on pocketfives for Australia - top ten is a short-term goal of mine and so hopefully with a bit more effort I can slide on in there and settle into a top ten spot. I think the top five will be harder to crack based on the fact that I generally play midstakes, but I'm sure once I move up a bit I will create some more goals for myself in this regard.
Today I had a dental appointment so took the morning off for breakfast at Cavallero beforehand, otherwise I figure I'm going to be hungry with a numb mouth all day. I had to get a filling on the top left and re-do a filling on the bottom right, which meant two needles at opposite ends of my face, and has made me feel completely unco all day lol. I cooked up an awesome massaman curry (lamb cutlets, eggplant, pumpkin, potato, beans), as I tend to do on Friday afternoons, sat down for a short session at 100nl sixmax and dropped a buyin, and here I am
Tomorrow I'm going to get a full day of tournaments in, and then Sunday Mell and I are going to the Australian Dance Awards at the State Theatre and probably a late dinner, which should be fun.
