gg downswing!
2010-11-21
After almost exactly five months of running terrible deep and having my longest downswing by any measure, today I got 3rd in the early fuper (FTP 163/150k) for 30k, and comfortably swung back into profit - 91 final tables later!

Thanks to everyone for your messages and rail support, I have this HUGE feeling of relief that I am actually out of that nasty patch. No matter how many breaks I took or how hard I tried to refocus, to study ways to improve, keep positive and play my best game as often as possible, this stretch has been so mentally and emotionally draining that sometimes I felt like I would never get through it hey.
Honestly it feels so stupid, the amount of times I felt like I "deserved" to hold up deep and bink some scores, I didn't...then I play probably an average game (mostly short-stacked and with shortstacks on my left on the FT) but ran unbelievably fucking hot when it counted (A5 > QQ on FT bubble, 33 > QQ five-handed), and boom, 30k for your efforts. That's tourneys for you I guess! Grats also to Stevan random_chu Chew for his first five figure score in the FTP 40k on the weekend
My weekend was super relaxing, the weather is actually warming up a little here and we spent virtually the whole time outdoors with friends. The Johnston Street Spanish Fiesta was on in Fitzroy, so we walked down to that and milled around looking at all the stalls. The council closes off a couple of blocks right in the busy part of the suburb, and the place is completely abuzz with everyone enjoying all the different foods and stalls.

We also spent heaps of time just reading and relaxing in Edinburgh Gardens, which is massive park about 200m from our house. It is just the best find, tucked away between Queens Parade and St Georges Road. It feels like something out of the 70s hey, on the weekends it is buzzing with locals doing everything from walking their dog, playing music (either out of speakers or people jamming on instruments), throwing frisbees, skateboarding in the bowl...everyone is drinking and just chilled out.
Well I feel nice and relieved, here's to a continued upswing!
