Sucker for punishment

Hey fellas, it's midnight here which usually sees me well into sleep ahead of an early start, but my bodyclock has been really screwed at the moment - thankfully my profession allows it to run the show when it needs to. Last night between 1-3am I didn't sleep a wink, so ended up tidying up the 15 odd games I have on WordsWithFriends. My addiction to that game seems to be getting out of control..most people I am cleaning up pretty easily, guys like Jay and Joel put up decent competition as well as a few guys that read my blog (shoutouts to Tony S and mattybee)..the guy that consistently smashes me is deldar but I can die happy knowing I was the first guy to ever beat him in a game - even if it never happens again lol. Like I've mentioned before, my username is risktotheupside so if you think you can throw up a decent challenge I am keen, even though I'm probably getting back to everyone once a day at the moment.

Anyway that break in slumber threw everything out..I didn't wake up until midmorning, took the day really slow and cooked up a mean bolognese sauce for tonight before doing a small afternoon grind. I ran really bad and at the moment I'm just not coping very well with it to be honest. I think it's just a combination of feeling so close yet so far, it feels dumb to go on about it since there are such more worthy issues to ponder in life but unfortunately poker can be very consuming in that sense. So yeah, that has meant I've taken every beat and whiffed deep run pretty hard lately, so I've been really kind to myself and just eased off the volume a little bit rather than spend 3k on subtle tilt all day.

All of this meant I was free to have another crack at an ANZPT Melbourne satellite tonight...I can't remember if I blogged about the one from last week but I stone bubbled the seat after making a terrible, tired ICM call with AK for two-thirds of my stack when I was cruising with 40bb and should've taken a ticket easily...bubbling satellites is probably the most tilting thing in poker imo. Anyway I rectified that tonight and shipped a seat whilst sitting in bed on the laptop watching Rush. There were three tickets up for grabs, and when it got four-handed I had 6bb and started whining to Mell that I was going to bubble again...she is usually fairly accommodating of my waffling but really gets fired up when I start acting all defeatist, so I have her to thank in part for helping me stick it out and play a strong ICM/pushbot game to dig my way back into it then lock in a ticket (even if she does wail "don't go all in!" when I ram 15bb in someone's face, eh eh). Seriously though, they are so soft you could probably make a decent living just playing those every day since the amount of scared/clueless money is at a peak and the payout structures are inherently sharp, rewarding aggressive play and reverence for ICM.

Even though I hate liveaments it's going to be awesome to play one of the biggest ones on the yearly schedule, as well as catch up with a bunch of mates - including ones I speak to every day but have never met in person. It's kinda funny that I haven't even met my backer in person..such a weird industry this is
